Guangzhou Open---Sept.27-Oct.3 2004

Drawing ceremony, Li Na wasn't there. She rejoined national team in December after she had made her mark by becoming the first Chinese woman to win a WTA singles title.

Li vs Yankovic, 2nd ruond, Sept.29, (can hardly find a pic for the 1st round and qualifying rounds)

"After US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova was stretched to three sets at the second round of Beijing Open by the little-known qualifier Li Na, many thought the Chinese player will make some noise in the future.
Well, it didnt take long for that noise to be heard from the 22-year-old as Li won her first WTA tour title the following week at the Guangzhou Open and takes home honors as this week's WTATour.com Player of the Week."

We can see the rainbow only after the storm.

Li Na vs Ai Sugiyama 1-6/7-6/6-2, great comeback!

But she lost to Patty again in close sets the second round.

That IS a smile It took me quite some time to decide this photo, the other two looks serious and another one with a forced smile It's not easy for her to win the title after 2 years of absence from tournaments with zero ranking.
CTA didnt give her WC for China open and Guangzhou Open, bcs she was not a member of the National Team then, had to play from qualifier
----------------------------------------------
Below is a pic of Na at 19 years old, how sweet she smiles

Na won three titles for the World Students Game, single, double and mixed double in 2001. Also, she won three titles in the National Game that year, sinlge, double and team, but early next year she retired.

May 07, Estoril Open, Na finally got a plate! Absolutely that was not a smile
One week before French Open, Li Na injured her ankle in Robat. The doctor suggested that she should rest up for at least 6 weeks. Thus she could not play French Open, Wimbledon... Since then the next half of 2005 nearly finished because of injuries and troubles with CTA...
.................................................. .................................................. ................................
Li Na was picked out by Roland Garros organizers as one of the 10 burgeoning stars
Na Li: China’s tennis awakening
"Now aged 23, Li has left her tennis breakthrough late, having endured numerous fruitless seasons due to injury. Last October, she became the first Chinese player in history to win on the WTA circuit, after coming through the qualifiers in front of her home crowd at Guangzhou. A finalist on clay at Estoril this season, she will be watched closely in Paris, as will several of her compatriots who are following the path she has forged into the world of professional tennis."
