Esta semana tenemos a dos chicas argentinas compitiendo en uno de los torneos europeos más importantes antes de Roland Garros: el 47th Trofeo Bonfiglio "Campionati Internazionali D'Italia". Nuestras representantes en Milan son Mailen Auroux y Denise Kirbijikian, que estarán en acción junto a las mejores juniors del mundo, incluidas 4 de las Top 10 de este momento. Más allá del resultado es muy importante que las chicas tengan la posibilidad de jugar en Europa, ya que se encontrarán realmente con las mejores jugadoras y en donde tomarán mucha experiencia.

Este año solo dos chicas argentinas jugaron en Roland Garros, ellas fueron Mailen Auroux y Florencia Molinero, ambas desde la qualy. Lamentablemente el saldo fue negativo, ya que solo Florencia ganó su primer partido, y Mailen perdió ajustadamente en tres sets. No hubo representantes argentinas en dobles.

En este momento del año en el que no hay torneos juniors en sudamerica, las juniors argentinas deben optar por jugar el circuito profesional de futures, o participar en los torneos para menores que se llevan a cabo en distintas partes del mundo. La única de las chicas que está participando en este momento en el circuito junior es Alexandra Akhmedjanova, que está jugando en el Forwardzone ITF Junior Tournament en Sudáfrica (cemento outdoors). El dia de ayer estuve hablando con una amiga , que es la prima de Mailen, y me comento que cuando Mailen viajo a Europa a jugar en Italia y Francia, viajo lesionada.
La lesion no es nada seria, creo que ya esta recuperada, era dolor abdominal.

Cuando le pregunte acerca de si la Asociacion les cubria todos los gastos, la respuesta fue NO. Es por eso que muy pocos juniors estan jugando en Europa, donde se enfrentan con los mejores juniors o se largan a jugar futures como lo hace Daniela Leyria, que juega en España o Denise Kirbijikian, que juega en Italia.

Si, la verdad que la situación de la AAT con los tenistas juniors está muy complicada. Me acuerdo que Emiliano Massa y Leo Mayer, después de ganar Roland Garros en dobles el año pasado, no see cansaban de repetir en cada nota el agradecimiento que le tenían a Gaby Sabatini por haberlos ayudado a viajar, y que si no hubiera sido por ella no hubieran podido participar.
Es una verguenza que un país que se dice potencia (y lo es en este momento) del tenis mundial, no pueda apoyar ni siquiera a los juniors a los que les da el ranking para comprarles un pasaje al menos para mandarlos a competir (ni hablemos de pagarles el alojamiento, un coach, etc.). En Wimbledon solamente participó Massa, un solo junior de los tantos chicos del país.
No se si es el mismo el caso de los sub-16, creo que a ellos si los están ayudando, igualmente no estoy segura.
La verdad que con estos datos cada día me doy más cuenta que este país tiene jugadores talentosísimos, que llegaron a donde están por su propio juego, y a los que se les exige demasiado si vemos las bases y las condiciones dadas para su desarrollo en Argentina.

Si recuerdo que Gaby estaba apoyando a los juniors, por lo menos a cubrirles algo de todos los gastos que deben afrontar.
Creo que tenes razon con el apoyo a los sub 16 porque Guido Pella (creo) y Tatiana Bua y dos chicas mas que no recuerdo el apellido, creo que era Galarza y la otra... mmm .. se me fue. Bueno el punto es que ellos estan jugando los under 16 desde hace unos meses que estan jugando Europa, espero que a travez de los años la Asociacion brinda mas apoyo a los junior.

US Open 2006

El último Grand Slam del año no solo es para los profesionales, ya que cientos de juniors competirán por llevarse sus respectivos títulos y ser las próximas promesas del tenis mundial. Lamentablemente solo hay una participante argentina en el certamen, estoy hablando de Alexandra Akhmedjanova, que arrancará desde el torneo de clasificación en busca de un lugar en el cuadro principal. Para ello tendrá que superar en primer lugar a Ai Yamamoto, preclasificada número 8 de Japón. Los mejores deseos Alexandra!
