Barbara Schwartz's "The Comeback Starts Here" Linz Thread

Barbara's comeback tournament is here in Linz, Austria . After a year out, Babsi is excited to be playing in the qualifying tournament thanks to a wildcard entry

This is her latest diary entry:

"Hi guys! I had a good practise the last days and weeks, and I'm really looking forward to play in Linz...it's great to play a tournament! Thanks to the tournament organisation I have a WC for qualifying. I played my last tournament on August 10th last year and i'm top-motivated to start playing tournaments again. The team league matches in september for my club, the BMTC were a good start and preparation for me, but a tournament is another new experience after this long time out. I will see what the first round on Saturday will bring. The tournaments starts on that day, and I will go there on Friday. I want to practise on the surface and get ready...I'm happy to see the austrian players again, for sure also the other players. With Thomas Strengberger and Michael Oberleitner I have 2 great coaches, who prepare me the best way for my comeback. Please keep your fingers crossed, I really need it...I'm not sure what will happen in my 1st tournament match. Yours, Babsi."

Best of luck on Saturday Babsi!

And an online translation (my German wasn't up to it )

Linz, 22. October 2005 - Gelungenes comeback of bar barons Schwartz on the WTA-tour! The low Austrian, who had to pause because of an Achillessehnenoperation in the right foot 14 months, overcame Schett before the eyes of its earlier Fed-Cup-colleague bar barons and Patricia its flourish in the first qualification round of the Generali Ladies Linz presented by Raiffeisenlandesbank OÖ that as a number four set Spaniard Laura Pous Tio after a game time of 1:14 hours with 6:2, 7:6 (8/6). In round two the 26-year-old will encounter on Sunday in a purely Austrian duel on Nicole draw, that showed Michaela Pastikova out of the Czech Republic (WTA-137) sensational with 7:6 (7/3), 6:3 into the barriers. Therewith is certain also that at least a domestic player will become herself into the last qualification round on Monday through fight.

Schwartz delivered a strong achievement against the number of 78 the world rankings in the well visited Intersport arenas. One noticed hardly that the former number of 40 the WTA-Rankings, that is thanks to a wild Card in the Generali Ladies at the same time, had, since the 10 August 2004 no Turniermatch in the legs. In the beginning phase, Schwartz played its opponent with pressure full tennis at the wall and won the first sentence with 6:2. in the second run served the Brunnerin in the state of 5:4 on the Match, had to deliver its impact however. The sentence went into the Tiebreak, in which Schwartz forgave first of all yet four Matchbälle in a 6:2-Führung, before it the fifth to the 8:6 and therewith to the triumph utilized.

"This Match was a first step back on the tour, but before me lies another long way", meant Schwartz. "I did not know before the game that my opponent is the number of 78 the world. I would have classified it during the party on a position around 150. Of the tennis here I had today already a super feeling. Physical fitness are what yet is missing me, and Matchpraxis. There I have yet enormous reserves", supplemented the earlier number of 40 the WTA-Rankings, that will encounter on Sunday in the second round on Nicole draw, that secured itself with the profit of the country championship a "free card" for Linz. "I clearly have my chances also in this party. But Nicole surprised and played against Pastikova correctly well. I know not yet how my body reacts to the current Match and would feel me like I tomorrow. I sequentially played two Matches already for one and a half years no longer", so the low Austrian.

While Schwartz and draw fought themselves into the next round, the Tirolerin Tina Schiechtl in its prelude party of the Swiss must itself Emmanuelle Gagliardi with 4:6, 1:6 struck give.
