Another talented Czech leftie!
This 16 yo (born April 4, 1999) from Vigantice just won the European Junior Championships in U16 cat. last Sunday in Moscow. She was unseeded there and had a solid run to the title, managing to take advantage from her section's falling apart after top seed and favourite Olesya Pervushina flopped in R2. She had a bye in R1, beat Kristina Novak 0 & 1 in R2, (8)Viktoriia Dema 4 & 1 in R3, Daria Kuczer 4 & 1 in R4, Eliza Omirou 4-6 7-5 6-0 in QF, (7)Nefisa Berberovic 2 & 0 in SF, and (2)Elena Rybakina (world #53) 6-0 2-6 6-3 in the final.

She used to be part of the Czech team, along with Vondrousova and Kilnarova, in U14 team competitions but was kinda left behind with Marketa's quick rise to the top last year, and Monika's success since last fall. She had a rather unconvincing last year, not playing that many junior tournaments and playing quite a few pro satellites, and having only a couple deep runs in the whole year - she made the final of G4 Solarwood Luxembourg Indoor Junior Open on hard indoor, having to retire at 3-6 0-3 down in the final against Mira Antonitsch, and made the semis of G5 BMW on clay in Czech Rep, where she had to retire again, in the first set of her SF match. And that's about it. Won only 1 match (a straight-set win over Naomi Totka) in the 6 satellites that she played.
She also had a bad start this year, barely winning any matches... until last month in Poland, where she made the final of G3 Bytom Cup on clay. She beat (2)Isolde De Jong 6-4 7-5 in R1, Valeriya Deminova 1 & 0 in R2, (6)Adriana Sosnovschi 1 & 1 in QF, (7)Anastasia Kulikova 0 & 3 in SF, before falling to (5)Jaimee Fourlis 6-4 4-6 3-6 in the final.
After that, she played G2 Ex Pilsen Wilson Cup, where she received a MDWC and beat Katarzyna Kubicz 6-4 3-6 6-0 in R1, but lost in R2 to (5)Julia Rosenqvist, 6-7(5) 1-6, and G1 ITF Junior Open Linz where she beat (WC)Eva Nyikos 1 & 0 in R1 but fell again in R2, to (8)Katarina Zavatska, 6-3 2-6 3-6.
And then after that, the great run at the European Champs last week.
Hopefully she'll manage to find more consistency after her great last week which should boost her confidence, but it looks like she's really starting to play according to her potential. The fact that her very first match this year was a 3 & 3 loss to Rybakina and that she managed to beat her in an important final a few days ago is a good sign.
Anna is #260 this week, she has a CHR of 232 that she reached at the beginning of the month. Hopefully she can break into the Top 100 by the end of the year, or at least get close to it. Pojd Anna!
