Dominice Ripoll: Im dritten Anlauf zum Turniersieg

Essen (oho). Dominice Ripoll hat sich für die German Junior Open viel vorgenommen. Die 16-jährige Nachwuchsspielerin des Deutschen Tennis Bundes nimmt nach 2004 und 2005 in diesem Jahr zum dritten Mal am Sandplatzfestival auf der ETUF-Anlage am Baldeneysee teil. In den Vorjahren war das Talent des BASF Blau-Weiß Ludwigshafen jeweils frühzeitig ausgeschieden. Diesmal will Dominice Ripoll den Titel. Als Weltranglisten-29. ist sie am Samstag in die Ruhrgebietsmetropole gereist, direkt von den All England Championchips in Wimbledon. „Es ist schön, wieder in Essen zu sein. Ich mag die Stadt und die ETUF-Anlage. Ich habe hier viele Freunde“, fühlt sich die 16-Jährige in der Kulturhauptstadt des Jahrs 2010 pudelwohl. Viele Turniere hat Dominice Ripoll in den vergangenen Monaten gespielt. In Italien und Luxemburg ging sie als Champion vom Platz. Bei den Gerry Weber Junior Open, der Wimbledon-Vorbereitung im ostwestfälischen Halle, erreichte sie das Halbfinale. Zudem schaffte sie mit ihrem Verein Ludwigshafen den Aufstieg in die 1. Tennis-Bundesliga. „Zur Zeit läuft alles einfach rund“, erzählt sie und lacht.



Für Essen wünscht sich Dominice Ripoll, dass ihre Erfolgsserie anhält. Für ihren Auftritt auf dem Centre Court der ETUF-Tennisriege hat sie sogar prominenten Beistand erhalten. Die Fed Cup-Chefin des Deutschen Tennis Bundes (DTB), Barbara Rittner, hat dem DTB-Talent per Telefonanruf viel Glück und Erfolg gewünscht. „Frau Rittner ist für mich sehr wichtig. Sie hilft mir, wo sie kann. Ihr habe ich sehr viel zu verdanken“, hat sich Ripoll über den Anruf der ehemaligen Spitzenspielerin und heutigen DTB-Damenchefin gefreut. Als Druck empfindet sie dies jedoch ebenso wenig, wie die Tatsache, dass sie als Nummer eins des Hauptfeldes von allen gejagt wird. „Das bin ich als Jahrgangsbeste gewohnt. Egal in welcher Altersklasse ich früher gespielt habe: Immer wollten alle gegen mich gewinnen.“ Im Laufe der Jahre hat Ripoll gelernt, mit den Anforderungen umzugehen. „Damit habe ich kein Problem mehr. Ich will in Essen einfach Spaß haben, gutes Tennis spielen und wenn ich dann noch gewinne, freue ich mich“, sagt sie lachend.



Wie wichtig ihr die German Junior Open sind, zeigt jedoch die Tatsache, dass sie ganz auf die Einzelkonkurrenz setzt. „Im Doppel werde ich nicht antreten“, sagt Ripoll. Zugleich ist ihr Auftritt auf der Anlage am Baldeneysee auch die Generalprobe für das mit 25.000 US-Dollar dotierte internationale Damen-Turnier in Darmstadt. Dort steht sie in der nächsten Woche im Hauptfeld, dank einer Wild Card. Die hat ihr Barbara Rittner besorgt. Als Dank will sie nun die German Junior Open gewinnen. „Das wäre wirklich toll.“ An mangelnder Unterstützung von Seiten des Publikums wird es jedenfalls nicht mangeln. „Meine Freunde und Bekannten aus Essen haben sich bereits angekündigt“, sagt sie.



In der ersten Runde am Dienstag darf sich Dominice Ripoll allerdings noch schonen. Die Auslosung bescherte der Top-Spielerin am Montagabend zum Auftakt ein Freilos. Am Mittwoch wird es für das 16-jährige DTB-Talent dann ernst: In der zweiten Runde trifft die Deutsche auf die Siegerin der Begegnung Julia Gavenko (Russland) und Gracia Radovanov (Frankreich). Eine durchaus lösbare Aufgabe. „Es ist schon wichtig fürs Selbstvertrauen, wenn ich zum Auftakt gut spiele“, hofft Ripoll auf einen erfolgreichen Turnierauftakt. „Das Potenzial die German Junior Open zu gewinnen hat Dominice“, traut Turnierdirektor Thomas Tasch der Deutschen in diesem Jahr den großen Wurf zu. Der letzte schwarz-rot-goldene Erfolg bei den Internationalen Tennis-Jugendmeisterschaften von Deutschland liegt inzwischen fünf Jahre zurück. 2001 triumphierte Anna-Lena Grönefeld an der Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße. Inzwischen gehört Grönefeld auf der WTA-Profitour der Damen zu den Top-20-Spielerinnen. Sicherlich ein gutes Omen für Domenice Ripoll.

Hat das Mädel keine Eltern, die sehen, was aus Anna-Lena geworden ist?

Man darf in jedem Fall davon ausgehen, dass wir in den nächsten 3 Jahren wieder eine Dame in den Top 20 haben, die danach einbrechen wird.
