I don't think so. This is Kookie's best result here, and she's never taken a set off Pavly in two tries, including at the 2012 AO.

its just a feeling. I know its against the past results. And yeah, if Nastia has a good day she is definitely favorite in this match.

Re: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Cheering Thread

I dont know why people think Nastia is a DF machine right now. Only match in last months where she had big trouble with it was FED cup against Ana, but its understandable she had the pressure at home. Of course her serve is not like in her "peak form", pretty easy to attack nowadays, but the sheer number of DF is not that big problem.

Re: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Cheering Thread

What do you think?

IMO she needs a good coach. A new coach. Someone who exactly knows how to improve her game and fitness. Do you think she works really really hard (in training and fitness)?

I think that she has so many potential. But now this year is probably the biggest disappointement possible.

Well, she's been looking for an stable coach. She had a good one, Jordi Vilaro, but he couldn't travel with her, so... At least now she has a fitness coach.

But yeah, more than anything else, I think she needs good guidance and dedication from a stable coach. This Adidas general coaching thing seems to be too impersonal and ineffective. Not enough.

Re: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Cheering Thread

its interesting sad to see how many players struggling with basic career deicsions. I mean its not an easy task. And you always wonder whats wrong or good. I personally think many thing can be done in tennis with consistent hard work. Nobody can achieve anything by 2 seconds, thats a myth. People often blame players being too robotic, while many cant understand how the life of players pretty much the same. You lose some, you gain some.

anyway, I thought she looked skinnier against Zakopalova. Or maybe just clay makes someone look better. And as it turned out, it wasnt a good draw, considering Kookie gave most trouble to the champion.

I hope she enters those american HC tournaments, field will be weak ass there coz of Olympics. Maybe she is gutted not going to Olympics, but I think that should be her least problem right now.

And I like her new hair. Although I hope its not the sign of a breakdown...

I thought the same, although the dark blue may have had a slimming effect.

EDIT: What the hell has she done with her hair

Re: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Cheering Thread

I don't like it either. But it suits her personality, so I'm fine.

Regarding the Olympics, I 'm actually glad she isn't going. It's sad in a way because she's always there for Russia, but her results aren't good enough this year and she was never going to perform well on grass to begin with, so what's the loss. She'll have more chances to go next time, when the Kuznetsovas, Zvonarevas and Petrovas are gone.

As things stand right now, she'd take more benefit from training and playing hardcourt Mickey Mouses than going to Olympics.
