Re: Casey in Tokyo [PP]
Which is worse: to lose to 25 year old (26 in December) Coin who's never come close to cracking the top 100 or to soon to be 37 year old Date (her birthday is later this month) and has pretty much been off the tour for 12 years?

Well thats a stupid thing to say.
Shes won something like 4 or 5 ITF titles this year. and already beaten some good players.
Still though its a bad loss for Casey.

Hmmm? She was off the tour from 1997-2008 with the exception of a doubles match in 2002.
She won 3 challenger titles but the highest ranked player she beat in the process was ranked #245. The highest ranked player she beat prior to today was ranked #80.

Re: Casey in Tokyo [PP]
Disappointed that Casey lost
I guess she had to experience a letdown after breaking into the Top 50 & 40 respectively. Hope she can learn from these horrific losses & become a better playe in 2009.

Re: Casey in Tokyo [PP]
OMG
I don't know what to say
Maybe she should take a break and work on her game for next year??? Losses like this certainly won't help her confidence

Re: Casey in Tokyo [PP]
I am more happy for Kimiko than I am disappointed for Casey. What an awesome win for her. But Casey hasn't really even devoted herself to the end of the season so it is no surprise to see a loss in qualifying.
Hopefully she can train a bit more and come back better in her next match, this sort of loss can only make her want to play better next time.

She has to ride through this by continuing to play. Shes had nine months of great form so to remain a top 50 player in the future she has to work out a way to get through a form slump - albiet a minor one in this case.... builds a bit of strength, character and toughness.

Date was creamed 1 and 1 in the final qualifying round! Enough said.

Re: Casey in Tokyo [PP]
Beginning to doubt her ability to keep up a high enough level of play to win consecutive matches at WTA level. I belive she has only done it 4 times in her career (Hobart, Melbourne, RG and Wimbledon all this year).

Don't forget about IW as well, but yeah it's a worrying trend
