Horrible draw. But there's no time for crying....there's work to be done! Here's the head to head between Iva and Mandy:

Amanda COETZER (RSA) v Iva MAJOLI (CRO)

1996 Hopman Cup 1996 Hard (I) R2 Amanda COETZER 6-4 3-6 6-1
1996 Hilton Head Clay (O) 16 Iva MAJOLI 6-7 3-6
1997 French Open Clay (O) SF Iva MAJOLI 3-6 6-4 5-7
2001 Miami Hard (O) 32 Amanda COETZER 6-3 6-3

Tied 2 : 2

Well, Iva is unbeaten against Amanda on clay. Besides, we have Xcrtbckhnd rooting for Iva in this matchup.

JUST WIN BABY!!!

I think that Iva will beat Amanda and go on to meet Sandrine. Unfortunately that's as far as she'll go but hey, that's a start!

1997 Atlanta Hard (O) SF Sandrine TESTUD 5-7 3-6
1997 US Open Hard (O) 64 Sandrine TESTUD 4-6 6-2 1-6
1998 Canadian Open Hard (O) 32 Sandrine TESTUD 7-6 4-6 1-6
1999 Stanford Hard (O) 32 Sandrine TESTUD 1-6 1-6
2001 Zurich Hard (I) 16 Sandrine TESTUD 6-7(6) 4-6

Sandrine TESTUD (FRA) leads 5 : 1

C'mon, let the voodoo work! Amanda... she's in almost as bad form as Iva these days, so there's definitely hope there (although I wouldn't put money on an Iva win ). Oh crap, I've just seen the rest of Iva's section and it's very depressing. No comment.

I have a question for diehard Iva fans. I am in the early stages and it has been a while since I saw her play (TV).

Watched her play Amanda Coetzer at AI and she was awesome. Amanda did play extremely well but Iva was tossing her all over the court. I was cheering for her and glad she won.

The next match I watched her at was the C. Martinez match. Iva was kicking butt again and I knew this was going to be a short match. Then, Conchita started sliding about three feet each time Iva tossed her around each side of the court. In the third set after C. won the second by a smidgen, C. did the same thing and you could tell Iva was getting frustrated 'cause she was playing great but C. was sliding all over. Also, what pissed us and Iva off was Iva was about to serve but they turned on the court lights and they were making a sound of a giant bee. She paused and then the ump told her to serve and Iva told her about the noise (as the ump didn't care that the noise was horrible) and then she asked C. if it bothered her. C. said no so the ump made Iva serve. Poor Iva sent her serve into the net. I loved it when Iva threw up her hands then.

My question is...no matter what, does Iva have a very bad temper or hurt emotionally hard? I understand she must have been pissed off royally and I don't blame her as I am sure she was upset at the result of the match. We were waiting at the exit to get her autograph and she came barrelling by us with a look that could kill and we called her name and she ran off. Any others we have asked to sign our stuff after they did not win, graciously signed anything we had. I felt really bad for her and we cheered for her throughout. She definitely would have been in the final as she was playing great.

I hope she does great in Charleston.

Hi Irish Thanx for the inside goss!

Thats a shame what happened in that match Iva should have figured out a way to deal with Conchita's tactics, and I suppose the distraction of those buzzing lights didnt help the cause Oh well whats done is done....

Anyway, to answer your question...Iva rarely gets angry on court but yes she is prone to showing a bit of emotion every now and then! I have noticed that a lot of the time she looks up at the sky and mutters a few choice words in Croatian and always looks at her coach with a helpless stare. This is what was happening in Australia this year...she very rarely does what you explained tho (walking out in a huff)...she must have been really pissed off, and I dont blame her. Look, on court Iva is no saint (she's out there to win) but usually she is gracious in both victory and defeat

At the Australian Open this year she played a doubles match with Francesca Schiavone (against Frazier and Fernandez) and this was a couple hours after she had lost her singles to Janette Husarova. Iva was in dismal form and looked like she didnt wanna be out there playing doubles...and after they got spanked she happily stayed and signed autographs, posed for photographs and chatted with fans...even tho her Aus Open campaign was now over. That was great to see

Im glad u guys were there to support her

Thank you Iva's #1 Fan. I appreciate you taking the time to respond back.

I did see what you described about looking to the sky but we weren't close enough to hear anything said. This was in the third set. She played so great that it is difficult to believe she did not win. Three elderly men (70s) were talking next to me and when they saw her practicing before the match, one commented to the others that she had really filled out and that she was skin and bones at the 97 French Open. They couldn't keep their eyes off of her and I thought that was cute.

I really believe she knew she could win and then when it didn't happen, was totally frustrated. Glad to know she often handles not winning more graciously but I can understand her frustration and she had a right to be mad. We were quite spooked for a moment there and hoped she didn't think us heartless. Even though she did not win, we thought she was so awesome, that we wanted her autograph. I had to move aside as she came by and had been face to face with her so I saw the look in her eyes (very pretty, I should add) close up. Or maybe something happened right before she got off the court that ticked her off (I had to get up in time to run to the exit so I missed as early as the handshake at the net).

Was even mad at Conchita for doing what she did but guess she wanted to win (the main purpose of it all) and Iva, no matter how great she played, Conchita slid back and forth to get Iva's shots.

Hope she continues to win at Charleston. Thank you for giving me an insight to Iva. I hope she can stay healthy and continue to win.
