They did well to upset the top seeds and get it to the end. I'm glad Petra stuck it out, probably thought singles in Qualifying and doubles with an injury would be too much especially the week before she is using a SR for a major tournament, so good thinking Petra.
She draws Shelby Rogers in the 1st round, a relatively soft draw for her.
Anyhoo, Petra plays Duque Marino in Miami Qualies. I am surprised she moved up to #83 after losing her 1st Round Indian Wells match but I assume there were other girls defending points and she was defending none, and got 10 for losing.
We have no idea where she is at with her injury or how serious it is, I'm just glad she is still playing and has not retired yet. I am hoping she does not make a last minute withdrawal.
I noticed she has signed up for the Osprey ITF 50k just incase she loses early in Miami, which is good. She just needs as many points as she can get.
