To start things off, here is an article I found in Hungarian about Agi's loss to Venus today. I don't know Hungarian though

Szávay Ágnes háromszettes mérkőzésen kikapott Venus Williamstől a mexikói tenisztorna negyeddöntőjében péntek hajnalban.

Szávay 5:5-nél aztán kihasználta második fogadóelőnyét, s a mérkőzés során először megszerezte a vezetést. A magyar lány megőrizte lélekjelenlétét, kiszerválta a szettet, következhetett a döntő játszma.

This is another Hungarian article. I can't find English ones

A mérkőzés 1 óra 28 percen át tartott.

A második körben a Marija Kirilenko - Gallovits Edina találkozó győztesével meccsel.

Indian Wells, páros, első forduló:
Szávay, A. Radwanska (lengyel) - Llagostera Vives (spanyol, 6.), Martinez Sanchez (spanyol, 6.) 6:3, 4:6, 2-10

It is not worth it. There is nothing personal in these articles, just numbers, facts from the livescore. This is the Hungarian sport journalism. It's a shame writing an article based on livescore without any additional information.

Re: News, Articles, Updates about Agi

Indian Wells — Másodállást vállalt Szávay Ágnes (20). A világranglista 27. helyén álló magyar teniszező jelenleg a kaliforniai sivatagban, Indian Wellsben szerepel a 4,5 millió dollár (1,03 milliárd forint) összdíjazású viadalon, amelynek harmadik fordulójában a német Kristina Barrois (27) ellen nyert 6:3, 6:4-re.

– Persze a játék a legfontosabb. A mexikói tornákon végre visszajött az önbizalmam. Most a sivatagban játszunk, kicsit száraz a levegő, de mégsem annyira kellemetlen, mintha párás lenne.

Szávay hamarosan új edzőt kaphat a januárban távozó Kuhárszky Zoltán (50) helyére. Ági az utóbbi napokban menedzserével, Lányi Andrással (38) készült.

Re: News, Articles, Updates about Agi

Interview after Agi's win over Ivanovic today:

Q. Did you have a feeling before today that this was going to be a good day for you?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I was just playing my game. I had a really tough match in the first round -- or second round on my first match against Schiavone, because she was playing really good. I didn't play my best tennis that day, but I survived the match, and I could won. I was really looking forward to this match.

Q. You've had a string of good results after several losses. How does it feel to begin to feel that your game is coming back, that you're able to struggle with and beat the top players on the tour? How does it feel?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, it's a very good feeling, obviously. I'm really happy that I came out from this position, because I was playing really bad. I played like two months in the row like every week just to have some matches and matches, because I didn't want to lose first round everywhere. So I was playing since the first week of February. I'm going home after this, so I'm going to have a good preparation for three weeks, and we will see how it goes on clay.

Q. Do you enjoy playing on clay? What do you consider to be your best surface?
AGNES SZAVAY: Doesn't really matter, but I really like to play on clay, because in Hungary we mostly have only clay and I grown up on clay, so I like to play on it.

Q. Looking at the draw for the rest of the tournament, do you think you've got a good chance here of getting far?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I'm playing Azarenka tomorrow, and she's really in a good shape. She just went to the top 10, so she's obviously playing very good now. I'll just try to do my best, what I can, and we will see if it's enough or not.

Q. Did you see anything in Ana's game today that made you think during the game that, Wow, this is a day I can really do it? Was there something she was not maybe at her top today?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, it was tough to play today because it was windy, like usually here. Like almost every day it's very windy. She's playing very strong and all the balls are coming very fast. So she can miss easily I think if it's windy, but I was concentrating on my game.

Q. Would you consider this to be the biggest win of your career or top 5 when it comes to wins or how would you rank today?
AGNES SZAVAY: Top 5, but not the biggest.

Q. What would you consider your biggest?
AGNES SZAVAY: Biggest? Probably when I beat Jankovic (2007, Beijing final).

Q. In Hungary, we've seen some countries like Serbia, for example, where one player breaks through and then suddenly coming after are three or four others. Is there many indications that in Hungary there are some players ready to follow you through?
AGNES SZAVAY: I hope my sister going to be the next. She's 15, and she's playing junior tournaments. Really.

Q. What's she called?
AGNES SZAVAY: Blanka. She's playing very good, so I hope she's going to be on the tour.

Q. Would you play doubles with her?
AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah, for sure. That's our plan.

Re: News, Articles, Updates about Agi

Russian No. 2 seed Dinara Safina and Serbian seventh seed Ana Ivanovic both crashed out in shock third round results at the Sony Ericsson Open on Sunday.
Unseeded Australian Samantha Stosur stunned Australian Open finalist Safina 6-1, 6-4. The 42nd-ranked Stosur, who had lost to Safina in all three of their previous meetings, converted five of 12 break points to record victory in 79 minutes.

The Brisbane native, who celebrates her 25th birthday tomorrow, is through to the fourth round of the Sony Ericsson Open for the first time in four main draw appearances. Known better for her doubles expertise, Stosur has not won a WTA Tour singles title and has an 8-5 match record this season.

World No. 2 Safina has been in explosive form in 2009, reaching the Australian Open final (l. to S. Williams), finishing runner-up in Sydney (l. to Dementieva) and reaching the quarterfinals last week in Indian Wells (l. to Azarenka). She dropped to a 14-5 match record.

Afterwards, Safina was extremely frank about her performance: "I think [it was] just a bad match for me. It was just a disaster match. She's a great player. She played very good, but from my side, I just can say it was sad the way I played today. Just basically I wasn't playing. I go to the court, and I don't even fight for it. So it's just bad behavior from my side. The champions, they don't do this. It's a good punishment for myself. I have to get smarter."

Hungarian 25th seed Agnes Szavay held her nerve to oust Ivanovic 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in a match featuring 12 breaks of serve. The 20 year old also reached the fourth round in Indian Wells last week (l. to A. Radwanska). Ivanovic entered the Sony Ericsson Open on the back of reaching the final in Indian Wells (l. to Zvonareva). The Serbian also lost early in Miami last year, falling to Lindsay Davenport in the third round.

"I'm really disappointed with today's game," said Ivanovic. "I hardly did anything well today. I couldn't really hold my serve. And just the way I started, I felt like I had so many chances early on in the match. I always was missing by a little bit, and got really down on myself. It was kind of hard to pick up from there. I think [the reason was] I sort of expected some things would come easier today on the court than they actually did. It was tougher than I expected."

Szavay now goes on to face Belarusian 11th seed Victoria Azarenka, who secured her place in the round of 16 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Anna Chakvetadze, the No. 22 seed from Russia. The 19-year-old Azarenka came into the Sony Ericsson Open on the back of her second WTA Tour title in Memphis (d. Wozniacki) and a semifinal appearance last week in Indian Wells (l. to Zvonareva). She also titled in Brisbane (d. Bartoli) at the start of the season.

Fifth seed Elena Dementieva (pictured) was in strong form on Sunday as she avoided the top seeds exodus with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over No. 31 seed Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain.

In a re-match of the Australian Open quarterfinals, when Dementieva prevailed by the same score line, the Russian converted five of 10 break points - while only losing serve once - to wrap up victory in 92 minutes.

The 27-year-old Dementieva has enjoyed consistently good results at the Sony Ericsson Open in eight previous main draw appearances. She reached the final in 2004 (l. to S. Williams), was a semifinalist in 2001 (l. to Capriati) and has reached the quarterfinals on three further occasions. Aside from a surprise second round defeat in Indian Wells (l. to Cetkovska), the fourth-ranked Dementieva has been one of the form players on the WTA Tour in 2009 – winning back-to-back titles at Auckland (d. Vesnina) and Sydney (d. Safina), reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open (l. to S. Williams) and finishing runner-up in Paris (l. to Mauresmo). She improved to a 23-4 match record.

Dementieva was joined in the fourth round by compatriot and 2006 Sony Ericsson Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, who dismissed Czech Nicole Vaidisova 6-1, 6-4. The eighth seed fired nine aces and converted five of 11 break point chances to seal victory in 66 minutes.

Former World No. 2 Kuznetsova, who won the 2004 US Open (d. Dementieva), is bidding for her first WTA Tour singles title since August 2007 – when she triumphed in New Haven. The 23-year-old defeated Maria Sharapova to win the Sony Ericsson Open title in 2006 and also reached the semifinals last year (l. to S. Williams).

Re: News, Articles, Updates about Agi

„Ana ellen mindig hasonló a játék képe. A fontos pontokat jól játszottam.

A döntő szettben eszembe jutott a tavalyi berlini meccsünk, amikor vezettem, de eső miatt félbeszakadt. Most háromszor álltunk le eső miatt, először 2:0-nál, de szerencsére egyik sem tartott sokáig, be sem mentünk az öltözőbe.

A harmadik játszmában is szorosak voltak a gémek, a 6:1 ellenére.

Re: News, Articles, Updates, Interviews, ...

29 May 2009
THE FRENCH OPEN Paris, France

A. SZAVAY/V. Williams

6 0, 6 4

An interview with:

AGNES SZAVAY

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. How do you rank this in the biggest wins of your career?
AGNES SZAVAY: Maybe the biggest one. For sure, one of the biggest ones.

Q. Can you describe a little bit the emotions you had during the match? I mean, could you believe that you were winning so easily in the first set, and then how did you keep your composure and stay in it the second set?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I was just keep playing my game and concentrate always on the next point and realize I had match point. Then I started to think, oh, my God, I have match point against Venus. But suddenly the point was over, and I won the match.
So it was really a good feeling.

Q. She hasn't had great results here traditionally, and on clay. Did you go in thinking that maybe this was one for you to win?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I played very good in the last few weeks. So I really wanted to win this match, but I was very nervous. I just tried to do my best, and I won.

Q. I saw a bit of your match in the first round, and you were not so convincing. I mean, what has changed? Easier to play against someone who is so famous and favorite or what?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I was sick before the tournament, so I didn't practice for a week. I just played once a day, and maximum one hour. Mostly 45 minutes.
I was really not ready for that match, and I didn't know that girl at all. She was playing actually good, and it was tough to play against her. She passed the qualifying, and she had lots of confidence. She's young, and it was really a tough game for me.
It was very hot that day, but I survived in two sets, which was very good, because I was tired after. Then the second match I played really good already.

Q. I heard that you practice quite often with Dinara Safina. Is that true?
AGNES SZAVAY: We do practice sometimes. Actually, we played yesterday.

Q. So that helps to play against her? To practice against the No. 1 in the world? That should help your game too?
AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah, she's a nice girl, and we used to play doubles together last year, so we know each other pretty well. Sometimes we have practicing together.

Q. Is the coach the same one that is written on the media guide? Because sometimes you girls change.
AGNES SZAVAY: I don't know what was written there.

Q. There are two coaches.
AGNES SZAVAY: I don't work with him since Australia. So since then, I have no coach.

Q. That's why it's good to ask.
AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah. Good question. Yes.

Q. You will play Dominika Cibulkova. You've played many times with her, but today she beat Gisela Dulko, and you play in doubles with Gisela. Do you ask something about her current form?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I didn't have to ask. She's a nice girl, and she started to tell me by herself. I played her a few times already, and I beat her. I'm really looking forward to that match, because I play good now.
I think I have a day off tomorrow, but I'm not sure about that, but I think I'll get ready for that match.

Q. I saw that you were in the year 2008, in April I think, No. 13 in the world. Then what happened? Why you went down? Normally someone as young as you, you're always improving in the ranks. What happened this year? Were you injured? Mental problems?
AGNES SZAVAY: I was not injured. Well, I had some back problems at the beginning or middle of the last year, but it was not the main reason, I think. I was really down mentally and just couldn't play my game. I was always so tight on the court and wanted to win so much.
It was like too much expectations from the media and from other people. I think I couldn't handle it, so I was really tight and stressed on the match. Now I just go out and try to enjoy, and it's much easier like this.

Q. Why are all these Eastern European countries producing a lot of good players? And Hungary is suffering? Apart from you, there are not so many anymore. There was times where there was Kormoczy, there was Szabo. There were some good players and they don't exist anymore.
AGNES SZAVAY: It's a good question. I think the mentality is not the best in Hungary. And also, we don't have too many clubs and courts. Actually, we don't have hardcourt at all, so it's really tough to prepare there.
I think that's it. We have lots of talent, but they're disappearing after the juniors.

Q. So you have to go to America to get better?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I never went to anywhere. I always practiced there in Hungary, so it's possible. You just have to really believe it and really want to be one of the best ones, or the best one. I hope in the future it's going to be some more players.

Q. Federation is helping you, or not?
AGNES SZAVAY: They are trying.

Q. Strongly, or so so?
AGNES SZAVAY: Let's skip this question.

Q. Back to Dominika. I know that you are 4 0 against her, including junior. But you're practicing with Dominika last November or December in Saddlebrook a couple of weeks. She told us that she beat you in practice matches. So what was the strength for Dominika in these practice matches?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I just always try to play my game against her, and I think she doesn't like to play my game. I'll also just try to do my best on Sunday, and we will see how it goes.

Q. Is your home in Hungary still, or where do you spend the winter or the off season?
AGNES SZAVAY: Abroad. Well, last year I was in Saddlebrook, so basically everywhere.

Q. When you feel down mentally, did you change something important in your game to recover?
AGNES SZAVAY: Last year or?

Q. Yes, last year.
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I just tried to come out from this situation, and, yeah, tried too many things. But it's not easy when nothing is working and you don't know what's the problem.
So I just tried everything, and finally this year it started to go again. I keep working hard, and I think that's the main point I have to do.

Q. Do you think you need a coach again for your future?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I'm playing good now, so I'm not sure. Well, after Zoltan I wanted to have few months alone, because all my life I had coaches with me in 24 hours, so I just wanted to be alone a little bit.
Then I thought, I'll have a coach, but I still don't have.

Q. It was more comfortable mentally to be alone?
AGNES SZAVAY: It's good. I like it.

Q. What was Saddlebrook like when you were there? What was that experience like?
AGNES SZAVAY: Well, the facilities are very good there, much better than Hungary, and obviously the weather is nice. So we really had a good trip there. It was good experience.

Q. Did you play with any games like Blake or Fish or...
AGNES SZAVAY: No, I didn't.

Translate by bveronika (from SzAFC) - thanks a lot

- A year passed, you play in Budapest again. It's a great opportunity for you, but you always feel you want to measure up to the expectaions. You can put great pressure on yourself. Which of these two do you feel now, the opportunity or the pressure?
- Actually both. I am a little afraid of this tournament, but I also look forward to it. I try to do a lot of things differently than I did last year, and I think it will go a lot better this year.

- Do you feel that yourself or are there other signs that tell you that?
- I try to think about a lot of things this year. I try to think about what I did wrong last year and try to be better. Of course this doesn't guarantee that this year everything's gonna be fine. But I think I have to give it a chance.

- Are you the kind of person that wants to learn from the losses and keeps thinking about them for days or weeks? Do you remember certain matches even after a year and think what you shoud have done differently, or do you get over a loss quickly?
- It always depends on the match, the place and the circumstances. It took me a long time to get over that match. Even today it is on my heart that I lost here last year. I played very badly (Szavay - Klepac 2:6 3:6, edit), but here's a chance to overwrite it and achieve a good result this year.

- Did you take the Flipkens match to heart?
- Wimbledon is one of the most important tournaments of the year, but I feel I am over it by now. Now I am working hard during the training sessions (on clay) to achieve a good result next week.

- Do you have an idea what went wrong in Wimbledon? Where did you make a mistake, if you made any?
- Maybe it was a mental issue, because the preparation for Wimbledon was good. It was a little unlucky that we played in the evening. I don't want to make excuses, but the sun was very low, and it was so bright that from one side of the court you barely saw the other if you faced the sun. My opponent played wearing sunglasses, but I did not have the opportunity to do the same. So this was a little difficult.

- I think you had the opportunity, but you don't usually play wearing sunglasses.
- No, and that's why I didn't have sunglasses with me. My eyes are very sensitve, maybe because they're light. They always start running because of the sunshine. I tried to play wearing glasses two years ago, but they really bothered me, so I don't wear them anymore.

- We didn't have a chance to talk after that match. Did she surprise you? You knew her, you knew what to expect. You said that she is a tough opponent because she mixes up the game. Was there anything that was different from what you expected?
- Yes, her serve really surprised me. She served very well throughout the whole match and it was very hard to make a rally. I think it was very important, because when we had a rally, it was mostly me who won the point.

- Apart from taking sunglasses with you when it's very bright, what did you learn from that match?
- Clearly there are things to learn, for example how you can prepare for a match, or how to put the outer things aside so they don't disturbe you mentally. But all in all I think I am over that.

- We must talk about the question of your coach, because it's been a widely discussed topic for a while. What is your attitude at the moment? Would you like to find a permanent coach, someone to solve these kinds of problems, or do you think that you will train with different coaches or partners? What are your thoughts?
- I sure would like to find a coach, because I still have a lot to learn about this sport and everything that is connected to it. This week I was training with an austrian coach and he will be here next week during the tournament. This is just a test at the moment, but we will see.

- You were very enthusiastic when you started training with Attila Savolt. You said you loved to train with him and it seemed that it would last. There were news that he doesn't want to travel with you but he will help when you're in Hungary. Why didn't that work out?
- Actually I really liked training with him, but then we had some disagreements. And he couldn't have traveled with me, so I decided to look for someone else who could come with me from tournament to tournament.

- So this is like a relationship. Sometimes one or two weeks aren't enough to learn everything about each other and to see if you have the same views. In tennis, the relationship between the player and the coach has to be based on trust.
- Yes, this is very important. The coach spends a lot of time with the player and he has to know a lot of things about you to be able to help. This is not just about hitting forehands or backhands or serving. In women's tennis it's more about the mental issues. If you are ok mentally, it's a lot easier to achieve good results, even when your forehand is not working that day.

- How are you mentally at the moment?
- I feel I am pretty ok now.

- Now back to next week's tournament, GDF Suez Grand Prix. The field is strong, you will have many rivals in singles.
- Yes, a lot of good players will be there, I think everyone in the main draw is TOP 100. So even first round won't be easy, even though I will be seeded. I think I'll have to play well if I want to win, and I will do my best to do so.

- Anything you want to say to your fans? If you are struggling during a match, should they encourage you, or does it only increase the pressure?
- I like when they are rooting for me, so sure.

- What about doubles, when you play with your sister?
- They can support us, I think my sister likes it too.

- It will be a historical day for you two.
- Yes, and I'm really looking forward to it. This always has been a great dream for us. It's an honor for us that we got a wildcard so we can play together. Blanka is only fifteen. I really look forward to it! I'm sure it will be a great experience for us anyway, because we always stand by each other.

Ági will play against former winner Tathiana Garbin, but not tomorrow. Wednesday's program on centre court starts with 1st seed Patty Schnyder against German Andrea Petkovic and will be followed by Shahar Peer vs 2nd seed Alizé Cornet and 3rd seed Sybille Bammer vs Edina Gallovits.

The last match of centre court will be the Szávay-sisters' match was stopped in the first set due to rain on Monday.

Two seeds couldn't survive the first test, Sara Errani (7.) and Lucie Safarova (8.) were defeated by Timea Bacsinszky and Petra Martic respectivly. The croatian player also plays tomorow for the quarter final against Maria Koryttseva and Alona Bondarenko will try to win over Romanian Olaru to reach the best 8.
