My new nickname for Vera
Seeing as everyone calls Maria Sharapova Masha, And they call Maria Kirilenko Makiri, can we call Vera Zvonareva... Vezvo? Now THAT'S a nickname!!!

Hehe you can do it for most of the Russians names, but they all sound goofy
Anmys, Eldem, Masha, Sveku, Vezvo, Napet, Ellik, Elbov... that's just the top 20 in the rankings

Masha is a common nickname for Maria in Russia, I believe. Yuri Sharapov calls his daughter "Masha" (or "Mash-baby"), and Maria Kirilenko is sometimes referred to as Masha too.
The compressed version of "Maria Sharapova" is Mashara, so by that logic Vera Zvonareva would be Vezvona.

Vera means "faith" in Russian, but the name is also influenced by the Latin word verus meanin "true"
And Masha is the nickname of Maria or Mary and Nastya for Anastasia
