Who will dominate in 2005?

Do you think the Russians will dominate, or maybe just Sharapov'a or Myskin'a? Or maybe the Williams sisters will re-find their dominant form again? Or, will Justine Henin-Hardenne come back and find the form she had before (I hope so!!)? And what about Kim Clijsters, cos it seems as if so long since she played! Or Davenport? Or anyone else?

I hope it's not so inconsistant..I mean, of course I like variety and to see new players coming through but this season was kinda lacking some dominant force if u see how I mean..noe offense to any players or anyone else.

If Justine comes back 100%, she'll probably be the most dominant player on tour, but still I think we'll see a lot of variety.

I don't get it. What's wrong with having four different major winners in 2004? Why call it a mess? Variety's supposed to be the spice of life you know. Sure we (including the writer of this post) all want our favourites to win everything there is on the market. But let's face it, this variety makes it all more exciting than dull. I personally loved it.

you don't understand.

mess wasn't meant to be all that negative. no one is gonna dominate, there's gonna be a lot of injuries and it's gonna be inconsistent.it's gonna be a scrap, that's for sure. hence a "mess".

i can't say it'll make for compelling viewing. not unless the sisters, mauresmo, henin, clijsters and davenport stay injury free. the Russians have already proved they can play week in week out.

OK, then. About the Russians, you never know. Last year Serena and Venus paid a heavy toll for their previous domination. This year it has been Justine's and Kim's turn. So you can't know for sure there won't be a general burnout in the Russian Revolution (not hoping for this of course as Myskina, Dementieva and Kuzzi are my other favs but I'm afraid this may be coming sooner than most people think)

the difference is, three of the "fantastic four" were prone to a million injuries a year anyway...the only "top" Russian i can think of having a serious injury is Elena and her shoulder. maybe they wont win 3 consecutive slams and the YEC next year. but i just don't think they'll lose their "domination" tag due to injury (as the Williams, Belgians), they will lose it to other factors (such as the other top players being able to play more than two tournaments without picking up an injury). it's just a question of who can stay injury free, when, and for how long. as yet, i havent seen any evidence from the Williams, the Belgians, Mauresmo, Davenport et al that they can (not to say they WON'T)
