Lightbulb AP ARTICLE: Shaughnessy Reaches Final of Grand Prix SAR

RABAT, Morocco (May 20) - Meghann Shaughnessy of the United States beat ninth-seeded Yan Zi of China 6-0, 6-2 Saturday in the semifinals of the Grand Prix SAR to reach her first final of the season.

Shaughnessy started the year 0-5 but has won 13 of her last 19 matches.

The American is seeking her first singles title since beating Francesca Schiavone of Italy on hard courts at Canberra, Australia, in January 2003.

Her last final was a straight-set loss to Vera Zvonareva of Russia, also on hard courts, at Memphis, Tennessee, in February 2005.

Later Saturday, fifth-seeded Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine played eighth-seeded Martina Sucha of Slovakia.

Bondarenko has a 2-1 record against Sucha, with both wins on clay.
