Never mind that Barry is already one of the three best baseball players of all time. (Picking the best between Barry, Babe Ruth, and Ted Williams is nearly impossible. I guess probably still the Babe when you keep in mind he was a fantastic pitcher.)
Guys generally get these sorts of milestones after their skills have eroded and they are just clinging to the end of their careers. Let's see if that applies to Barry's year:
Leads the major leagues in Batting Average
Leads the major leagues in times on base, by a lot
Leads the major leagues in Walks, by 85
Tied for 3rd in the majors in Home Runs, despite 122 less at-bats than anyone else in the top 10.
Leads the majors in On Base Percentage by ONE HUNDRED FIFTY POINTS
Leads the majors in Slugging Percentage by ONE HUNDRED FORTY SEVEN POINTS
Leads the majors in OPS by THREE HUNDRED THIRTY ONE POINTS. THREE HUNDRED THIRTY ONE POINTS!
