Re: The 20 Greatest Active Single Players in WTA

Points for #1 should be slightly higher since getting to #1 isn't an easy feat either, it takes a year long result to get to the desired spot.

Why TennisFool's Thread is considered to be main and official?

Quote:

it's still high enough, otherwise balance will be broken , because 1 year at #1 (52 weeks+10 points for YE#1 = 62 points) shouldn't be equal to winning a Slam . Major title is still greater achievement

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour

It looks like TennisFool enjoys privileges on TF and his biased and subjective Ranking is considered by moderators to be an official thread.....

I don't understand it, really

What can stop it? Azarenka ahead of Sharapova? Don't think so..... Only Sharapova/Azarenka ahead of Serena can be helpful

TennisFool, just try it )))))

Regarding merged lists, you have to ask the mods.

AnnaK_4Ever did his own list. Maybe you have to put your own name in the thread title

NashaMasha,

Nice attempt. Still not "objective" as you're putting your own values on items.

Vika is 73 points below Kuzzie on your list. If she gets 8 more premier titles, she will be above Kuzzie according to you. Or, next year, winning the WTA Champs and 3 premiers will do it. That's good for you?

No way is Woz greater than half that list.

You've completely devalued the #1 ranking -- glad you're not in charge of the official rankings

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour

one point for each week at #1 is a rare type of utter bullshit. Of course, it's a great thing to achieve #1 and points should be provided, but not like this It's a great difference if a player peaked at #2 or they reached the top, even for two weeks. In this system, it's a matter of 2 points - nonsense. On the other hand, the actual number of weeks at #1 is not that important, being there longer can't count as one more final/win of a GS. Who the hell cares how many weeks at #1 Jankovic or Safina were? There should be points rewarded for achieving #1, and much less (0,5) for staying there. Rankings, in the end, are just the numeric representation of your achievements. We're creating other ranking based on the same achievements, so the regular one doesn't mean that much.

other things:
why again there are points for finishing #1?
top 10 wins should be included. upsets against great players is what you remember and admire about the player.

1) as for #1 pls advise system which will give some points for reaching #1, #2, #3 etc .. + additional points for weeks being #1 Which won't break the balance.
2) as for upsets/top ten wins it's controversial , how should be evaluated those matches in which top 10 player was tanking, withdrew or played injured, or wasn't motivated because getting ready for more important tournament.... It happens a lot in WTA

You've completely devalued the #1 ranking -- glad you're not in charge of the official rankings
additional 8 PM/P5 titles will take Azarenka to 13 Tier I titles, what is a record among current players .... It's great achievement, of course it will help her overcome Kuznetsova's results...
WTA Championships has been an important tournamement since WTA was established, when speaking about the likes of Navratilova or Evert, Graff the number of YEC titles is always mentioned ....

AS for devalueing #1 ranking, you've done the same with Wozniacki in your list , you just favoured Azarenka for some reason
In My list a year being #1 is less than 1 Major title and it's what is closer to truth, in your list Azarenka's less a year #1 is more than Major + Final. It's what is called B.S.

PS. Who can offer better system(correct my scoring system) than mine pls send me advices by PM

The only point in my list is that i think the big WTA events matter as well as slams and both should be looked at. Jankovic has done very well in those Tier 1s... (and im not even a fan).

If i wanted to change things i would have fudged Kvitova over Li! But had the ***** grand slam ranking (your list) was used to see who gets placed first when there was a tie...
