hope she can win a round, she had match points against a good player a couple years ago but lost the match.

one of her problems is that she is perhaps the worst player at closing out matches i've seen...no lead is safe. it probably has a lot to do with her lack of weapons and grinding style, mixed with nerves...

just as i was saying. rika can't finish matches.

she was up 6-1, 4-2 and now has lost 6 games in a row down a break in the third...looks like it's another 1st round exit. how can she really not get over this choking stuff? every match she plays is like this, she'll never get a good win like this with those nerves...how disappointing...

Either way, I am just happy to have Rika back and challenging the top players. I am sure she can end the year in the top 100. Hopefully she can overcome these nerves.

Q. You had a very strong first set, but then things seemed to change for you in the second and third. What do you think changed?

RIKA FUJIWARA: Well, I was kind of surprising myself how I played on first set, but that made me a little bit pressure to myself. Because I had to keep that on, to, like, keep playing like that: really aggressive. I think when I was up 4 2 in second set maybe too much pressure, I put too much pressure on me. I couldn't make first serve, and then the things slowly change from this point.

So I think just the mental thing. Yeah, I thought I have to change something, but I just have to keep going and keep going forward, keep aggressive. I thought you have to change, that's, I think, the mistake.

Q. You seemed to struggle with your serve at times. Was this something that you feel let you down today?

RIKA FUJIWARA: Exactly. I was struggling from qualification as well, but I think I need to work on it.

Rika beat Meng today! She qualified! Ayumi did too! Unfortunately Yurika Sema lost, but good results in qualies by the japanese this year!
