OK well the singles sucked (but hey, she lost to the eventual winner AGAIN ), but it's another doubles title for Mon. This time with Marie-Eve Pelletier.

You're kidding
I wouldn't be wrong in thinking most players would want to avoid her in the draw. Just be nice for her to take advantage of this good form. She's better than her previous results suggest.

Mon is on fire in dubz! If only she could avoid the top 2 or 3 players in r1 she could get going again!

Well she got through the first round of $25K Valladolid this week. Beat the German girl Etzel in 3 tight sets. Good to get through a tough one, but I didn't think it was going to be that hard.
Next up is an 18 year old Spanish girl called Irene Rehberger, ranked 609. Never heard of her before, but she recently made both a $10K final and SF. Also, several weeks ago she pushed the young Romanian, Mihaela Buzarnescu (Monique's recent rival in the Spanish $25K's), 7-6 in the third. So obviously Rehberger can play, but Mon should be too experienced and strong for her. Let's see, because this is a very kind bottom half of the draw for Mon to get through!

Yes Mon was not overly impressive with that scoreline, hope she steps up and can build again tonight as u say TS the draw is opening nicely! Would love to see mon vs parra in the final! a real good indicator of how she is playing!

Well if Wheeler in her current shite form, can manage a 6-4 set against Parra, then Monique should be able to do something.

Im riding on the fact that Mon tends to build momentum as the tournament goes. But O'Brien is ranked higher so who knows.
Great that she spending such an extended time overseas and on the one surface. Instead of jumping around the place like most of the girls. (or playing two tournies and then having a month off )

I'll second that!
Is this hardcourt? I figure if it's clay, then Esperon would be much tougher, but I'm pretty sure this is a hardcourt tourn? The draw has opened up beautifully - time to take advantage!!
