Tsvetana Pironkova Cheering Thread!

Second Round Main Draw, Deauville, France
----------------------------------------------------------------

16y.o. Tzveti Pironkova lost today to world's #109 Marta Marrero of Spain.
She surely played one of her best matches in career, but had no luck in the final games in the match
However she'll move to #327-#328 in the rankings in two weeks.
Here are the stats of the match:

MARRERO -->
Aces: 0
Double Faults: 4
First service: 58%
Break pts won: 9/17
Total pts won: 119/228

PIRONKOVA -->
Aces: 0
Double Faults: 1
First service: 75%
Break pts won: 8/13
Total pts won: 109/228

Match duration: 3h 00min

Pironkova has commitments for 2 more tournaments this year, but most likely she'll play only the one!

Pironkova to play in Belfort next week -- $25k tournament

Good luck Tzveti in your first tournament in 2004

She will be either first seed in the qualies or will be accepted directly in the main draw

Good luck, Tzveti !!! The field does not seem too strong and she has a very good chance of doing some damage on this tournament.

By the way, ghosts, I wanted to ask you a question off the topic, if you don't mind. Do you have any idea what happened with Lukaev? I know he got injured last summer but I have not been able to find anything about him since then. I spend most of my time outside of Bulgaria so it's kind of hard to stay updated. Sorry for the digression.

well, I've not heard anything about him lately

obviously the injury is serious... he wanted to play at the Bulgarian Open in September 2003 but withdrew some days before the tournament.
I hope he will be back some time this year

Tzveti qualifies for the main draw!!

qR1: [1]Tzvetana Pironkova (BUL) def. Aurelie Vedy (FRA) 6-4 6-4
qR2: [1]Tzvetana Pironkova (BUL) def. [13]Anne-Laure Heitz (FRA) 6-1 6-2

In the MD she will face Florence Haring, wildcarded from France!
It is interesting because in the last event Pironkova played (Deauville 03) she met her again in R1 (won 6-4 6-2)

Good luck Pironkova

Tzveti is in the second round already after an impressive 6-0 6-3 win over Florence Haring from France

Thanks, ghosts. Well done, Tzveti. Hopefully she can make a run here and that would be the beginning of her breakthrough year.

i don't think the injury was so serious
he just had some problems with his manager, he left his club and that was the reason of not getting the wild card for Bulgarian Open
and i think he had some problems with his behaviour too
