Is Patty eligible to play for Germany?

JR brought up an interesting point in the Bedanova thread (Daja switched her tennis nationality from CZE to GER), is Patty now eligible to play for Germany? Because doesn't she get automatic citizenship through marriage? Patty is already by far the most successful and biggest-name player from any of the three German-speaking countries, and since Anke Huber retired like 3 years ago, GER hasn't had anything approaching a female tennis star. They'd probly be happy to have her, and there might be a lot of sponsorship money at stake if Patty decided to pull the ol' Greg Rusedski. I'm not thinking it's going to happen, but i'm wondring if it's theoretically possible.

I geuss she could change Tennis Nationality if she wanted to, Daja did it, andnI am sure Deutsche would be delighted to have her, I wonder if it has passed her mind? Though I geuss she is content playing for Switzerland.

I dont know. I cant Patty imagine as a german player. She would stay for me ever a swiss player in my mind. For german tennis it is more important, to find young talents, than to poach already successful players from other countries.
