Maybe they're hoping to attract the players who didn't/couldn't play in the Olympics and want a warm-up for the US Open. It is a bit strange.
Does "WTH" mean "what" or "where" the hell? In any case, that gives away the age of the person who wrote it:

They used to have The Mazda Tennis Classic in Mahwah, New Jersey, just before the US Open way back in 1991-92 or so. It was a 16-player draw but was more of an exhibition event. Jennifer Capriati and Monica Seles were the headliners during those years.
