Irena Pavlovic at Gifu $50K
Another disapointing result for Irena,
despite an interesting draw, she lost in the 2nd rd at Gifu against modest n°383 Tomoko Yonemura 6/4 3/6 6/4.
I really hope Irena will be able to find back her tennis for Roland Garros.

Re: Irena Pavlovic
Lack of luck for Irena in Roland-Garros. She faces an in-form player in the person of Monica Niculescu, the second seed. I don't want to look further, the only consolation I have is that it will make a great match to watch tomorrow. I hope it doesn't begin too late otherwise I wouldn't be able to follow it .
Clay isn't her best surface but she at least knows how to defeat Monica as last year she was the only one to stop her winning streak in Australian 25k.
Allez!!

Re: Irena Pavlovic
Monica was too much for Irena on clay. Now it is time for grass court tennis
$50.000 Surbiton Qualifying Draw
Irena PAVLOVIC (FRA) (4) BYE
Emily ASKEW (GBR) Vs Laura MORRILL (GBR)
Natasha KHAN (GBR) Vs Alexandra VUKOTA (SUI)
Brenda SCHULTZ-MCCARTHY (NED) (5) BYE

Logical qualification for the final rd of the qualies....Irena is going to face last year Surbiton winner and former Top player Schultz Mc Carthy!
Tough match in perspective against the big server from Netherlands who's best surface is grass!

Re: Irena Pavlovic
Irena lost 64 36 63 . Quite a good performance though, according to Jean, she dominated the match but didn't show enough mental solidity on key points...

Well that's the major issue with Irena.
She should be a Top 200 for a while now...She seems to play with up and downs...and she's not abble to conclude tight matches such as this one...
I don't know her schedule now....I don't think that she's in the Q at Wimbledon?

Re: Irena Pavlovic
Irena reaches another quarterfinal this week in Felixstowe defeating 2 Aussies players, including the talented Johanna Konta who won a 10k and entered top 20 in juniors, both on 64 62 . Hope that this time she will advance a bit more because she never went further earlier in the year, it is the perfect occasion to give an new impetus to her season which has become quite dull.

Well, another young talent to face for Irena in QF: 15 y.o Tara Moore, one of the biggest british prospect who ousted 7th seed/n°319!
Hope Irena will make it through!

Re: Irena Pavlovic
She lost in straight sets against Tara Moore
I agree that Irena should be in top 200 for a while and her results are really strange, struggling in 25k's but playing good matches like in Dubai qualifying where she defeated Foretz and pushed Medina Garrigues all the way.
What happened to her? Looking at a few pictures I'm not sure she's in great shape, she used to be really skinny and has put on a lot on weight. Not to say she's fat, she's not, but that's a big change, even her face doesn't seem the same...

At least good news!!
After another disapointing loss vs n°353 Bou Nogueiro at 25K Vigo last week...Irena came out of her shell at Coimbra $25K.
She's qualified for the SF where she'll face in form n°267 Thyssen...another 2 handed both sides player.
I hope Irena will prove that she's back to her expecting level.
Irena had a pretty easy run for the SF beating
(Q) Diana Brunel (n°686):6/3 6/2
Heidi El Tabakh (n°386):WO
Elisa Kostova (n°534):6/4 6/4
Irena was out of the Top 250 (n°260), she'll be back in a fortnight...
with already 11 points...she's virtually n°240...a victory would make her rise around 230

Irena fell in SF
As expected Irena fell to qualify for the final. Nicole Thyssen was too strong and confident for her with a 2 sets victory.
Thyssen won the tournement.
Next tournament planed...Westende $25K starting 18th of august.

Irena playing the USO qualies
I was desapointed to read that Irena withdrew from Westende...but it was for good reason...she is playing USO qualies!
Hope she'll be able to win her 1rst match in slam considering she's facing Takao..a pretty good toss. Takao had poor result for a while.
Good luck!
