great victory from Irena in the 1rst round against almost Top 200 in-form Larson!

That was in last year final at 2007 Potimao $10K against her next opponent in Tenerife this week Neuza Silva.
Sadly Irena lost to Neuza..hope she'll take her revenge today even if Neuza is a dangerous Top 200opponent!

Another very good match from Irena!!!

I'm very pleased with those kinds of results, it's another top 200 win for her! She has been playing so consistently lately, it's perfect for her confidence. I hope that she can break now her QF curse & beat Carla. Vamos Irena!

God Irena, this is disappointing!!!

I would account this loss for some tiredness. It's not very worrying, but it's a shame it interrupts her sery of good results. She is very close to top 200, so it would be good for her to get into Roland Garros qualies without WC.
Get some rest and come back stronger for the German tournament

Irena is in Asia to play a big tourney with lots of 50k, sadly it began on a poor note with a 62 64 loss in Incheon (25.000$) to a Chinese player ranked outside of top 300. I fear that this long interruption will affect her quality of tennis. It's too bad, she was so close to breaking top 200 & now she has been completely stagnating!

Well, Irena is still playing with up and down form weeks after weeks. Sometimes, she's playing encouraging weeks with easuy victories on Top 200 players...and some weeks, she seems to struggle with her game or confidence!
I was hoping a good run at Incheon with a pretty easy draw as 6th seed...she could have make it to the semi and get 12 easy points to come closer from the Top 200...
Hope she'll regroup next week!

Next weeks, she'll play some 50.000$ japanese ITF where she could be seeded. Irena must to take her chance there !

Sadly, she was one step to be seeded...and unlucky to toss the 2nd seed/Top 90 Tanasugarn in the 1rst rd at Gifu

However a good match even lost against such player would have boost her confidence...Sadly she severely lost to Tamarine...which is not encouraging for the next couple of weeks..

Next week, she's competing another $50K Challenger in Japan...hope she'll do better with a better toss. She's currently 10 on the list...so no seeded status for her next week

Well, with a bit of luck Irena has a much easier draw this week at Gifu.
She was suppose to play 3rd seed/n°154 talented KULIKOVA...but she withdrew...
So Irena 1rst opponent was n°544 LL Yuka KURODA.
Irena won 6/3 6/4 which is not that convincing but a victiry is a victiry and Irena needs it to boost her confidence.
Normally Irena should qualified for hte next rd too..before facing 7th seed/n°210 Kumiko IIJIMA if the logic of the ranking is respected...IIJIMA is also a really winnable match for Irena...so a SF would be great...with 16 WTA points added...she could be ranked around 215.
