Back to back QFs in Rogers Cup! That's great, and she can just go for it next match, probably against Kerber.

Nice. But if it's Kerber then the next match will probably be much tougher. Unlike Sam who is hot and cold Kerber always is ready for a fight, and she's just the kind of consistent grinder who can draw errors from Lucie. Hopefully Lucie is ready for battle.

What happened in that first set?

Stosur choked a bit after serving for the first set, even had the lead in the TB (5-2). Match was really tight, not much between those two. I knew she could win: her leftiness is a nightmare for Stosur's weak backhand and Stosur's high topspin balls are not a problem. In fact she hates it when the ball is low (Winbledon...) but contrary to most other players, give her some high balls above her soulders and she's in paradise

Judging by the stats on her points made on 2nd serve, she was teeing up on those kickers.

Yes, kinda sucks because there are errani/stosur in 2nd quarter and she gets serena.

No sure I like the matchup, Vinci is GOAT at the moment and she has a lot of variety on her shots... Anyway, considering her head to head with Kerber, guess it's better this way. But her HTH with Vinci isn't great either (0-2) but they lat played 3 years ago.
