Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
Solid win and solid ranking points for what it was. Now hoping for a good run to Roland Garros.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
So with this win and from what you said Davodus, she should be ranked 21 next week and seeded 20th for RG, right!!!???

The cutoff for seeds was Sunday right after the Rome final so seeds are set in stone based on this weeks ranks. Lucie will be the 21st seed as the 22nd ranked player (due to Petkovic's WD) regardless of anything that may happen this week.

Like Edinboro said the seeds are set, so she is 21st seed. The points for RG come off in the middle of RG, after the first week...so she may move up then, unless they hold the points over until the end. Really the only way for her to definitely get into that top 20 is to have a good run at RG...so hopefully!

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
I'm much less concerned about Lucie cracking the top 20 then her making the fourth round of a slam again. I think that is important at this stage of her career (especially after the nightmare US Open third round last year).

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
She could do it with a good draw...someone like Lisicki or Zvonareva as her 3rd round seed who aren't in the best form...and no good players early on
She'll be 20th seed, Hantuchova is also out.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
Well Hantuchova loses 280 points so Lucie should definitely be Top 20 after Roland Garros unless she loses 1R and a lot of players below her gain points

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
Let's hope she will make a good run in RG. I'm normally going there on wednesday of the first week

I totally agree, that's my concern as well; when I asked about the rankings it's because I want her to be seeded as high as possible so she could have a big run there. Then there's always the luck of the draw... she will be seeded 20th but she could still draw a Venus for example. Let's hope for a Lisicki or a Zvonareva like Davodus said. Schiavone would be cool too

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
So does anyone wanna make a RG thread? We usually do slam threads.
Round 1 vs Yakimova. Seems easy on paper, but Lucie vs pushers...
MJMS or Q in round 2 MJMS could be tough even if she has been injured, Cibulkova is round 3 seed, and Azarenka for round 4...not really happy with that draw. Could be worse, but could be much better.

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
Yep, RG thread would be nice. But seriously, what kind of sucky draw is that. Girl can't catch a break. Hoping Retirenka pulls out again If Lucie gets to that point...

Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread
It's growing increasingly tiring with Lucie's inability to deal with early grand slam matches. The situation is made worse by the fact that when she loses it's not too often beacause of someone comprehensively outplaying her. She either has many chances she doesn't take and/or chokes, or she fails to make any adjustments to a players' unconventional playing style.
I'd hoped Biljana would help instruct her to start thinking instead of panicking in difficult matches but her grand slam mentality still has a way to go. Cibulkova is playing well so it looks like she would have had a tough time progressing much further but we'll never know if she can't deal with the matches she should win early on.

this is a pretty good read..it's in czech, but the translated version gave me most of it. Lucie giving an interview about her loss in RG and the olympics/wimbledon coming up. Also they speak to her father about her, and he discusses why she sucks in slams a bit
