The team is Kvitova, Benesova, BZS and Hradecka. They said they picked on the current form...I dunno how BZS or Hradecka have been that much better, but whatever  she'd just lose anyway. |

Yeah, Lucie's omission isn't that surprising really, Benesova has had better results than Lucie in singles, including beating Lucie and generally deserves it. BZS has been dire in singles but as you say she is established in the doubles with Benesova as an experienced team and Hradecka provides decent cover for singles and doubles.
What does that make Lucie's next tournament then?

I'd like to see her play more mini clay clourt events this year like Acapulco, Budapest, Bastad, etc. I'd like to see her utilize her favorite surface and rack up a title or two this year.

She usually plays Bastad...Acapulco I doubt, because she'll play middle east and probably KL again. Budapest who knows...she's played all of those events before and flopped out early, so it's not necessarily the best thing |

She wont play KL, she is not in the ectry list, she will focus on all the premier events I think.
The first MM she play this year may be Marbella or Barcelona.

Interesting she isnt on the entry list...it was reported end of last year that she would be back by some news paper in Malaysia |

She really needs to win another title. She won her first 3 WTA titles so ridiculously quickly...now she's only won one in the past six years.  |

I was checking this thread because I really thought Lucie hadn't been picked due to injury.
My guess is that this has more to do with her performance in the Fed Cup final last year than with current form.

Possibly, he does like to drop people after they didnt do as well in the previous tie. Disappointing for Lucie, but at least she can focus on her next tournaments.
