Re: Your tennis results?!

Won my match today 63 64.

Positives:

1) Mentality- I am soooooo angry on court sometimes. Not today. Besides a little frustration at the start of set 2, it was literally 100% better than what it usually is. I stopped focusing on the situation (losing a lead, double faulting, missing a sitter, etc) and focused on... staying focused I didn't rush, I told myself to focus on the first serve, and focused on what my mistakes in previous points were, and how to implement a gameplan to correct them.;

2) Fight- I had 5-3 40-0 on serve in set 1. Next thing I know, all 3 are gone, and I'm facing BP. Told myself to still go for my shots, hit through my BH, and give myself a little more margin of error when in tight spots. I saved 2-3 BPs, and finished it off. Would never have happened in previous weeks, when I would get so mad

3) First Serve- Won some nice free points today because of a well placed serve. Especially in set 1. Even hit an ace

Negatives:

1) Racket Head Acceleration- I catch myself trying to be too tame. I'm still working on the "trying not to miss" mentality, and still playing aggressive, but with control, and not erratic wild swinging shots. Sometimes I focus too much on trying not to miss. Some easy BHs missed because of this, some FH returns into the net or 10 feet out, but I corrected a lot of it at the end of set 2.

2) Second Serve- Still sucks But hey, it's one of my bigger weaknesses and he didn't expose me with it, so not much I could say about it today It still needs to improve though. Only 1 DF (serving for the match was when it happened of course ) which is nice.

Was down 0-1*, then got back to 2-1* and then broke and got 4-1* and we held until I won it 6-3. Second set he started at 1-0* and I missed some GPs and was down *0-3. Got it back to *2-3, but he broke again. He started getting flustered and went on a few mental walkabouts and was able to go from 2-4* to 6-4. Happy with today.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Haven't played an actual singles match in a couple months I play mixed doubles at my school so it can get quite frustrating. The whole reason I started tennis was because it was an individual sport.

Also singles greatly helps me improve my game, as my weaknesses and strengths are much more easily exposed. I am the type of player who runs down a lot of balls, and uses placement and angles, without real finishing power or many winners. Lately though I have been hitting the ball quite well in matches and not chipping and slicing away because I am really nervous.

I also used to just tap my second serve over, however, now I have way more slice on it, and it is a lot more powerful. (Even hit a couple second serve winners/aces) I double fault a lot more often, but I know that they are "better" doubles than previously, and eventually my game will quick.

Great to hear! And I completely agree with the "individual" aspect of tennis. Only one to blame but myself when the going gets rough haha. I've been working on my 1st serve as well. It's such a nice feeling winning those few extra free points due to a service winner.

Re: Your tennis results?!

Played 2 singles matches this weekend, 1 Friday night and 1 this afternoon.

Friday game I won 64 61. First set was a little up and down. He played a lot of chip/slice FHs and BHs, then would throw in a topspin groundstroke. Originally was up 3-1 and 30-0 I think, but he broke back and we kept holding serve until 5-4, where I broke to take the set. His court positioning was... a little weird He was always inside the baseline, so if I hit it with extra pace and angled it was always a winner. And I never hit winners Got broken in the first game of 2nd set, but then won 6 in a row. I needed I think 3-4 match points to close it out, but got the job done.

Today's game I won 62 62. It was more routine. He was very inconsistent, and made a lot of simple errors. Didn't make a lot of 1st serves, which those were good when he got them in. I got to 4-2* and broke and held for the first set. Just normal rallies, nothing flashy. 2nd set I got up 5-0, and started thinking about other things for some reason, and wasn't moving my feet. He broke for 1-5, and he had 40-15, but I hit some good shots and got to MP, where I promptly over hit a FH long off a 2nd serve But I regrouped, and took it on my first MP up 5-2, holding at 15. I was a little hungover today, so I was afraid of what my stomach would do with running around, but it cooperated and all was fine

Up to 2nd in my division, which is nice.

Re: Your tennis results?!

My first time playing since before Christmas - thankfully just a practice match as season doesn't start properly until May.

Very rusty as expected but still hitting OK - lost 6-2 6-1 though against someone I only lost 7-5 to last time we played.

Sore shoulder after first set and hurt my quad after going for a wide ball but hopefully just short term pain!

Won my R1 and R2 matches in the playoffs. 62 76 and 62 36 63! Into R3 which is my best ever result (made R3 one other time before, which was last year).

I did!!! I am so happy!!

64 64 win!

Started down 0-1* 0-40, but got the break back, and we held until 4-3* where I broke to serve for it, but was broken back to 5-4*, but then broke him at 15 to take the set. It was really scrappy, but started cutting down on the errors and stayed consistent.

Second set as usual I start really slow. I seem to be broken in the 1st game of every second set, ESPECIALLY after I win the 1st set. I find myself down 0-3* I tell myself to focus, and that you've made it hard on yourself now, and that you've got to buckle down and stay strong, because you've got a big task ahead of you.

I then start hitting a little cleaner, going a bit more on my BH, and just staying in the point as much as possible, and found myself breaking 3 times in a row to go up *5-3 serving for the match. Had 30-15, went down 30-40, and hit a beautiful drop shot to save that BP. Then was facing another BP and double faulted

We change sides at 5-4*, I have MP at 30-40, and I hit a slice FH return, and out of no where I see the ball jams him, he didn't move his feet, so he kind of lasso FH whip shot from way out of the court and it's the perfect short angle! I was so pissed because it was such a WTF shot that I could never hit

But then he dumps a FH into the net, giving me another MP, then he double faults on MP

I hit one of my best shots ever though this match. I believe it was at the start of the second set when I was down 0-3*. He hit a nice FH angle inside out, and I ran and lunged for the ball, and hit a BHDTL flick shot that catches the line that left him standing in no man's land and couldn't reach it All I could do was laugh

So pleased to be in the Round of 16!!!! First time ever reaching this far. Looking forward to the next match.

(thanks for reading if you did )
