Jarka lost 1st rd here at Surbiton yesterday to Abigail Spears of the USA 6-1 6-3 !
A tough loss, Spears is currently ranked 180 in the world. Spears played well but this is a match like at the French Open against Sanchez that Jarka should win. Jarka has beaten Spears in the past as she has with Sanchez , these are opponents Jarka should be beating and for her to lose yesterday 1 and 3 again highlights the problems . She needs better direction and a seriously experienced good coach in a one on one private situation, that is the only way forward. Right now she does not have that and her game is suffering because of it.
Jarka's game at present is too "ragged" , it is just to phrone to breaking down quickly, there are too many unforced errors and it is very patchy . She has moments of brillance but is also very erratic. There is little discipline in her shot selection and the way she sets up her points.
I had feeback from people who watched her also in qualies there at Surbiton when she struggled against 2 British players one unranked and another 500 in the world and they said the same thing. Jarka hits the ball like a top 10 player but in matches at the moment she is too "loose" ...she looks "lost" at times not knowing what to do . There is a definate lack of very good guidence and direction there and its clear her present "coaching situation" is not working !
She needs to see this and make the right decisions meaning get a full time one on one very good coach just for herself . In the AIS program at present she is sharing and with too many different people and has no quality continuity on the coaching side. She needs total focus and attention 24/7 just on her , good direction and discipline and planning day to day . Yes Jarka is going to still have her good days on her talent alone, but that is not enough ...to seriously go forward and for her to make real inroads and achieve the success her potential deserves and get back to where she was it will need what I have said

Thanks for the report I hope Tennis Australia gets with the program and sets Jarka up with an experienced, 1-on-1 coach (Tony Roach?) to really develop her game. It seems she has so much natural talent and hits the ball so cleanly, it'd be a shame for that to go to waste.
