Well,I cannot believe Sania has not her own thread,so I created this one.I pleasantly discovered her at this AO in her match vs Serena. What a talented player she is!!! I wish her lots of success in her career!
Yeah yeah "The fall of Sania Mirza " in "Times of India" that made her so furious :lol:well according to her twitter, she is recovering....the pain is gone and the doctor is strengthening her wrist. and she is raring to go and play in Indian wells.she also read some article which stated that she has lost her will to play which made her quite furious and went on to say that if she loses the will to play, she ll quit.
first..i have similar doubts if Dr. Jatin is really the right person to treat her wrist...Yuvi recommended it once...and that one time, he cured Sania's wrist..so Sania decided to stick with him..until she realizes she needs a better doctor(and gets one)..But i've always doubt whether she is getting the best treatment. Whether this doctor called dr. Jatin is really strengthening her wrist or damaging it with those needles whenever she makes this statement " my wrist is 100% ok now" the very next match she calls the trainer on court.
how come this guy is a Junior Member..!! ...that's what is called a Sania Maniac,,..love you for whatever you said..Trincazz,
you honestly see nothing wrong in the article?
well, lets see:
1. 'tournament directors in most Grand Slams, gave Sania a direct entry in the singles because her box-office appeal compels it'...totally incorrect, for the last 5 yrs now, she has got in because of her RANKING, which has stayed in the top 100 almost throughout. Even if the writer got his facts wrong, the fact that he casually attributes it to her 'box office appeal' without a shred of logic to support it, is really laughable.
2. According to the author, Mirza underperformed because of her 'instant stardom, celebrity endorsements, the featured appearances..her ranking slipped quickly into the 30s and kept slipping steadily thereafter' - again incorrect. True Mirza got instantly famous in 2005 after her title win, but her best ranking came in SUMMER 2007, DESPITE THE ADS AND ENDORSEMENTS. The fact is that the ads etc can be shot in the 2 month off season, and has little to do with upsetting the practice schedule. If 'instant fame' got to her head, how did her best season come 2 years later?
3. No mention of the recurrent wrist injury!! Which, indisputably, is a major reason for her underperformance.
4. Players do suffer from loss of form, which at times is unexplainable..look at Ivanovic, Chekvetadze, Krajichek, Vaidisova..to name a few former top players. Y should such an unfair statement be made about Mirza?
There are many other errors in the article but I really dont want to write any more now. However one fact is clear - the reason the author wrote it, and the editor published it - it is what many people want to hear, and not because it is the truth.
The Times has indeed sunk to a new low.
