There were plenty of nice points in this match from both players, but Ivanovic gave away too much with loose forehands. She overhit too many of her returns but had some looks at making the match closer. Ana was decent at net and it was nice to see her hit some backhand winners for a change Radwanska played pretty well and I enjoy seeing the variety in her game, but in numerous rallies she relied a bit too much on Ivanovic's loose errors. She won't have that luxury if she makes it to the SF.
This match clearly shows that Ana reacts instead of coming up with a strategy. The fact that she kept getting aced on the deuce side out wide is beyond me. Why didn't she just move over and take that serve away from Aga? Ana is toned, fit and can move well but all of that means nothing if her brain is not going to properly guide the ship. Nigel I want to see more improvement and fast.
She played some nice drop shots and some nice winners overall but too many ue to trouble Aga. Still i can see her coming back to top10 in the near future but it's not a safe bet. Physiclly she seems to be okay, maybe she should add 3-5kg and get a little more muscles. I think she just lacks patient in her game. At some point Aga looked so bored that she didn't even care about the depth of shots and didn't try to put the balls near to the line (except serve) cause she knew Ana will miss.
So consistent. Great performance from Aga, all match on a high level. The slices were really effective. Aga closed out both sets with Aces. Mentally very strong, Aga played the important points so well. Impressive anticipation, excellent footwork/movement. Aga is an incredibly smart player. Jankovic could learn a lot from Aga, not to be scared of Ivanovic and how to convert game and break points.
