Dinara is not overrated, but don't expect any fantastic results from her....

I just think that the development of a player is a complex thing, not just raw talent and hitting ball 3 hours a day.

I was watching Dinara at the USOpen, watching people around her, read publications from Wimbledon and one other tournament (don't remember which one) and I understood that the reason of her spoiled brat behaviour are the people around her.

THEY TREAT HER AS SHE'S PRIMA DONNA!!!!!

She's certainly very talented, but she hasn't achieved much yet and already got this treatment. And that's what will be in her mind: I'm the best. Is she? And how will it affect her career??? I don't think positively!!!!

SO, I personally don't expect from Dinara a lot in the future! (and I'll be glad to be wrong!)

tenn_ace at a normal event there won't be that many people around her, it was her 1st US Open.

I guess having Marat has her brother will bring uncalled attention to her, hope she stays strong.

tenn_ace .... were they family /friends or business aquiantances ?

Last year Anastasia's 1st Wimbledon she had everyone with her (being 1st time), this year she only had her coach and boyfriend ( he played Mens)

Dinara's results since mid-summer have been a bit disappointing.

This was her 1st big year in juniors , then again Lina on her 1st big year ended #1 with 3 Grade A titles.

She's only 15 and has the pressure not only on herself to do well but having to live in Marat's shadow isn't going to help , sooner she comes to term with that , the faster she will improve.

The group consisted of about 15 to 20 people (certainly her morther, Neiland, Petrova's coach -some that I remember and know...) Some of us (Pea, TBE) say that she's under Marat's success pressure.......

But I think that this pressure was sort of created by crowds of unecessary support.... Leave her alone. Go look at her match when she's playing quarters or semis... It's o'k for fans to go to see her first round doubles match (we may not have many opporutinities), but for coaches, etc. who spend 3 weeks at the USOpen??? as if they haven't anythig to do that day....

she won her doubles match against some unknown players and got a treatment as if she just won the USOpen.... Oh well, I hope I'm wrong....

<br />BTW, TBE, who is Nastya's bf? is he Russian?

Nastya's BF is Artem Derepasko

15-20 in her entourage is way too many even if most are with her brother.

Tenn_ace, I've read some articles about Dinara, and she has never come accross as a brat. Where has she shown such behavior? Is she spoiled? I don't know. But she wouldn't be the first spoiled tennis player. Would she?

the cat in the hat, it happened after the ceremony at Wimbledon... some reports say that she didn't appreciate the prize very much (threw it after ceremony was over or something)... as much as I understand her dissapointment after losing that match (she had all the chances), that kind of behaviou was uncalled for....

at another tournament (I think it was the USO) her r3eaction after the loss was also inadequate...

Dinara is extremely talented, & she'll have an amazing success in the near future. I saw her match at Wimbledon & she played some amazing tennis.

The reason she hasn't post great results this summer season & fall season it's because she has back problems, when she gets well then her results will be others.

About the way she behaves what's wrong with that, i found her pretty cute when she gets mad after losing a match, & at Wimbledon i wouldn't blame her, it's a normal reaction. & it wouldn't be Dinara if she didn't do that & i love the way she behaves. Besides that what would you expect with the temper that her brother has.

She looks pretty mature but she just needs to stay injury free. Personally i first knew Dinara & then i heard she had a brother, & i think she'll be more successful that her brother.

One more thing, i found pretty offensive if you compare Dinara to Prima Donna, Dinara is truly cute sweetheart & she deserves respect.

Dinara surely will rule the WTA, she has talent, she's charismatic, she has great technique, she's stunningly beautiful & she still has room for improvement. So i totally disagree with tenn_ace, Dinara is awesomely good & next year i'm absoluty sure she'll make all of those who say that she won't post fantastic results eat their words!!!

PS.- Cat, Dinara it's not spoiled, she acted like that because of the heat of the moment, just like Marat does.

btw, there is noting offensive in comparing her to Prima Donna.... it's just truth. and it's o'k when a player won a GS and behaves that way... Dinara hasn't made her mark yet (in my opinion), so it's too early to start being PD.

btw, Marat hasn't been that way when he just started. I remember him playing his first serious matches (Davis Cup) and he was just a shy boy.

Hey, I don't mind if she's a little bratty but I hope she can grow out of it. Every little thing will be criticized when she reaches the big time.

It seems not to matter for Russian girls. Dementieva and Myskina were treated as second-graders to Kournikova in Russia when they were juniors, yet all they are now in the same position as Anna, i.e., far, very far from meeting the expectations. At the sme time, there was a lot of hype over Williams sisters, and that didn't seem to affect them, while Monique seemed to be a hype and nothing else. All depends on a person.
