Nika is playing in qualies for next week's $50K+ in Biberach. Here's her section of the draw:

(1)Romina Oprandi (ITA) v Anne Kremer (LUX)
Tereza Mrdeza (CRO) v Dia Evtimova (BUL)

Estelle Guisard (FRA) v Irina-Camelia Begu (ROU)
(7)Ani Mijacika (CRO) v Nika Ozegovic (CRO)

It'll be interesting to see who wins between Nika and Ani. They played twice last year. Ani won the first time, 63 16 63; Nika won the second time in an extremely close match, 67(3) 76(3) 75.

Nika Ozegovic d. [6]Kristina Kucova 4-6 7-5 6-1
Amazing! I didn't see that coming at all. Kucova is #110 and has a career-high ranking of #103. Congrats, Nika!

Next she'll play Foretz, who defeated Lapushchenkova 6-0 6-0
According to the drawsheet on the ITF website, Nika plays Romina OPRANDI (ITA), who beat Aniko KAPROS (HUN) 76(4) 63. Good luck, Nika!

PS: Half of the players in that quarter of the draw have last names beginning with "O": ONDRASKOVA, OSTERTAG, OPRANDI and OZEGOVIC. How often does that happen?!?

In their previous meetings Oprandi beat Nika three times, but Nika won once...on a retirement:lol: Jokes aside, Nika seems to be finding her form so we can hopefully expect her to rise in the rankings quite quickly - those wins against the likes of Kremer sound encouraging. Nika isn't defending any important points until something like May, so she can pretty much only get better.

Ajmo Nika:bounce:

Nika got crushed by Oprandi: 63 60. Oprandi used to be top-50, though.

Like m4816k said, Nika's not defending much for a few months, so she'll hopefully keep rising in the rankings.

29 year-old former world number 131, after not playing for over 4 years resurfaces at the Bol futures event this week:

singles - Ozegovic (WC) lt. Kleinsteuber (WTA #911) 6:3, 2:6, 2:6

doubles - Horvat/Ozegovic (WC) vs. Hruba/Pantuckova

Nice to see her name again. Wonder if this is a one-time thing or something...she has wins over some good names in her career (Kirilenko comes to mind).

One-time thing. ;) She coaches Horvat.
