To be honest, my expectations for this "comeback" are very low. It seems as though whenever Vika makes some genuine steps forward in her career and starts stringing some consistent results together, she gets injured. Clearly her body just isn't built for the week-in week-out grind on the tour.
Considering she was still in the 80-120 ranking limbo when this current injury struck, I think it would be a big triumph if she even makes it back there again. I hope I'm wrong but Vika has never, ever exceeded expectations so I doubt she's going to start now.
Jesus, she could barely win matches at that level this time last year. I have no idea what makes her think she's going to have a better chance now after basically a year absence.
Something about this move tells me that Vika isn't all too optimistic, perhaps even serious, about a full time return to the tour so she's probably looking to play as many tour matches as possible while she still can.
Definetely agree with Vaxey, that Vika should follow Galina's steps and try to win some mtaches on ITF to build her ranking first. Really hope this result tells her the true. But of course I wish her luck, wherever she plays next match.
