Me too David, me too... Long day, finally could find out the result.. wasn't able to follow the score don't think i will be able to follow scores this week but will be here to comment and check for the results and posts
Oh yes.. This does definitely brighten up my day a bit.. Pleased as well.. yes and i am proud of her as well and proud to say that.. delighted with the win for Yuliya as well...
Nice result.. Just one of the wins she needs, also in terms of points speaking...
Now i am hopeful against Knoll...
Interesting that you mention points Mat.....Yuliya did not play at all in November last year. Thus 9 points from Istanbul last week, already 8 this week ( if she beats Knoll tomorrow she will have 15 ) and last time I looked Yuliya was number 1 ranked player for Minsk next week....should be enough to guarantee an Australian Open QD place......however Istanbul was just before Christmas last year and Yuliya made the SF.....so every win good for confidence, belief, the bank and the Australian sun in January !!
Yeah that's what i meant... I was thinking about Australian Open QD.. thats why i want her to do good.. In order to guarantee an QD spot... So i am glad.. I just hope Yuliya's hanging in there... Every win is a bonus for points, belief the bank and the Australian sun indeedy!
I am not working all week long but its just that i have another life outside of the board that takes time as well.. But i'll be here
Thanks i will drop by tomorrow again.. Can't follow the match, other things to do might peek on my mobile
Too bad for Yuliya.. thanks for the info and scores David.. Much appreciated... I was as well feeling relaxed about the match however i couldn't follow the match.. Wasn't really expecting this after the delightful match against Pliskova.. Oh well... There's lots of work to be done in the off season especially the serve
Is it me or does Yuliya looks to be not bothered after the match? Could be wrong offcourse but thats what struck me in the pics...
Hopefully Yuliya will have a good run in Minsk as its necessary..
Thanks for the pics again Potapovushina.. Will take a peek at FB
Better luck in Minsk Yuliya, upwards and onwards (i suppose)
Not sernpving very well, missing alot of first serves since beginning of the second set.....I was quite relaxed about this match, Yuliya made all the running in the first set, just couldnt convert her chances....
Thanks David! Don't see any other reason why Yuliya should WD from Minsk
mm don't know what to make of it.... Yes i think so too, maybe a returning injury same she had in Bulgaria? good to get some rest and recovery fully then playing with it on ans don't know just guessing... Well wait and see it is then...Get well soon
^^
After mulling about this the last couple of minutes i have to say that i am kinda worrying a bit... don't know why but something doesn't feel right and i don't know why.. Hope it is indeed an injury and is my (gut) feeling wrong.... we'll wait and see...
Yep interested too... Let's wait and see and keep our eye on the AO list and other earlier 25/50 k tournaments..
Offcourse i could be mistaken and Yuliya has an niggling injury, What i did in the meantime checking back in the thread and read back posts in this thread from 2012 and earlier coming across posts of Yuliya having motivational problems, so that could be it as well, but just a guess yet i don't know so i consider everything at the moment, just being patient
Yuliya has 29 points to defend to the rest of the year.....she will have to play 50K Ankara next month and win a couple of matches to be sure of AO QD place.....
Maybe she will play 10K Antalya the week before Ankara ?
Reference motivation ,- Yuliya seemed so up for 2015 and up to mid Summer had been doing very well, even breaking back into the Top 150.... Then a few very close matches didn't go her way, and she lost a few big leads and since then ( bar Venus and Kris Plis ) it has been hard going.....
If she really wants AO next year then this week would have been good to play....nothing much else in the Calender for the rest of the year, almost all 10K....thus I think either an injury, or enough is enough? We shall see.
As you say Mat we have to be patient....the Ankara entry list is due out 26 Nov....
Yuliya has not entered Ankara, or indeed any tournament w/c 14 Dec.
She will thus be ranked around 212 when Australian Open QD list comes out...still possible to get in but unlikely.
I think she has finished her tennis career....
I could well be wrong ( I often am ) but at 32+, will she want to be playing smaller ITF's again next year just to get her ranking back up again ? Doubt it, and remember she won a round in Auckland ( vs Gibbs ) and in Melbourne too ( vs Dabrowski ) this year, so more points coming off....
All good things come to an end....I had thought she might try just doubles out but her ranking has dropped so that she will now miss grand slams , and she has hardly played any doubles since Wimbledon....
Exactly David.... think the same, see my previous post... I am getting used to my tennis favourites all quitting, started with Dementieva and then Benesova.. Oh well.. that's all part of the tourlife, once you feel like you gotta go you go.. simple as that...
Will keep an eye on her FB, the FB page of the Ukrainian Tennis Society, GM or maybe a fellow Ukrainian poster can enlighten us.... Or get some news?
Just as an aside this year the cut off for the Australian Open was 215.... Jorn has posted he expects the cut off to be in the region of 220-225....
Irrelevant really as no point going anyway unless you have some matches under your belt....
I think Yuliya has called it a day too... I've been looking into the Ankara list and seeing she has not entered got me convinced.. Oh well.. Last weeks it sunked in that it i think Yuliya's
career is finished...
It indeed is very unlikely to get in the AO list.. She just reached the age of looking back on her tenniscareer and called a quit... Realistically there are not a great deal of tennisplayers playing a this age....
Yeah i will miss her too.. I must say that i've given up hope to see Yuliya back next year..
And i also see not why she would play the smaller tournaments just like you said David, it was great to be a fan of Yuliya good or bad times So if (i know it sounds dramatic but i feel its the truth) i wish Yuliya all the very best in her after tennis life
You're welcome! i always find it useful and good to view my opinions and meanings and other such...
mmm now i am confused... A comeback possible? Yuliya working on her comeback in the US and working on her game. Maybe she has a contract thingy with IMG. . . However i still don't believe in next year.. I just don't know it at this point anymore
Really? mm the last post of her seems about Paris.. Or i might look at the wrong page I better not get my hopes up yet and i maybe am only second guessing. So i better not think or mull too much about it...
Yes i was a massive fan of Lena D and yeah i was a massive Lina K fan too... good memories.. now i have redefine my tennis fanships.. I think i met you before a couple of times in the Lina K forum... Had different forumnames back then.. been around for 11 years now Lena D forum used to be my favourite around here.. like Yuliya is now
Rank down from 191 to 215. Has points to come off too from Auckland where she beat Nicole Gibbs the number 1 seed in qualifying and of course points off from Australian Open when she beat Gaby Dabrowski....
No official announcement which I am surprised about.....
Happy New Year Mat.
I will miss Yuliya.....not sure anyone else I feel passionately about!
I've given up hope on Yuliya.. i don't think she'll be back.... Yeah strange no official announcement but maybees there will be one at the start of the season or she has just quitted quitely and has no intention to share it....
I will me her too.. i've embraced Yuliya for what she achieved... I am a proud fan and i will ever be... And yes i regained my fanship for Yuliya when my other tennis love where i was so passionate about decided to quit a couple of years back... Yes and i felt also really passionate about Yuliya.. She brought me much joy in dark times... :yeah:
Thanks David, you as well! I really hope 2016 will be happier then 2015.. 2015 was a rough year with dark times with the serious illness of my sister.... Just hoping on a wonder some day
Thanks but i do not know whether she'll recover from it.. Its a nasty situation.. She has an extremely rare type of***** (Insulinoma) for about 3 years know... All started after my niece was born... She's on a chem medicine trial now with every 3 months a scan.. last was worrying... Monday she'll get another one... Just trying to hold on hope but its being difficult the last months and fear is in the back of my minute but i am trying to be positive and to keep up with my life...
Just hoping on a wonder or a remedy thats being developed within the near future...
Yuliya will be around 235 after the Australian.....
Hoping we find out she will be doing next....some coaching of juniors, something with the Ukranian tennis federation?
