Destanee obviously playing way above her age level, she could have played 12s  But a good effort from Kimberly...she's certainly been a quiet achiever behind Tomic and Hon as far as 98' girls go.

Ruffels looks to be talented too, obviously with some good tennis heritage in her family.

Its a big week for our junior girls and they have made a great start.

Japan GA - R1

(WC)Priscilla Hon def. Tachibana 6-2 6-4
Naiktha Bains def. (14)Tsuji 6-4 4-6 6-4 *Tsuji has a world ranking of 945
(10)Geogiana Ruhrig def. Higashi 6-3 6-1
Isabelle Wallace def. Okamura 6-7(7) 7-5 6-4
Zoe Hives def. (9)Adachi 6-1 7-5
Wagland leads 3-1 in the third set of her match to be finished tomorrow.

Thailand G2 - R1

(3)Lizette Cabrera def. Chutragoon-ngam 6-0 6-0
Olivia Tjandramulia def. Permpanich 6-0 6-1
(15)Sara Tomic def. Swangkaew 6-2 6-2

Good wins all round but particularly impressive from Bains, nice to see her finding some form again.

Some nice wins. Particularly nice to see Bains gaining some form again (whatever has changed is working!), and for Tjandramulia (often overlooked). Also nice to see Ruhrig having a go, from memory likes to hit the ball and a bit older, probably unrefined raw talent overlooked along the way like Tredoux and other like athletes. Saw them battle it out in a great 3 setter match last year, much more entertaining than the pushers or grinders. What they could do or be with the proper support to develop their games. Yep Cabrera should have played the GA.

Japan GA - R2

(12)De Vroom def. (WC)Priscilla Hon 2-6 6-0 6-2
Naiktha Bains def. Ottomano 6-1 4-6 6-3
Hayashi def. (10)Geogiana Ruhrig 6-3 4-6 6-3
(11)Okuno def. Isabelle Wallace 6-3 2-6 6-1
Zoe Hives def. Dart 1-6 7-6(3) 6-2 *Dart has a world ranking of 929
Miyazaki def. Danielle Wagland 5-7 6-4 6-3

Mixed results for the girls today, nice wins for Zoe and Naiktha and solid efforts from the rest. Would have been nice to see Wallace, Wagland or Ruhrig scrape out a win. Good effort for Hon to grab a set off De Vroom.

Thailand G2 - R2

(3)Lizette Cabrera def. Skidanova 6-2 6-1
Olivia Tjandramulia def. (7)Jeong 6-2 6-2
(15)Sara Tomic def. Ikeda 6-0 6-1

Another solid day for the girls in Thailand, very nice win for Olivia in particular.

Didn'texpect Wallace or Hon to win, but expected more from Ruhrig. Danielle had to finish off her first match in the same day so may have been tired.

Great win for Olivia, Jeong has had a fair bit of sucess on the junior tour...so the scoreline is especially surprising!

Japan GA - R3

(3)Mertens def. Naiktha Bains 6-2 4-6 6-1

Olivia Tjandramulia def. Momkoonthod 7-5 6-1
(15)Sara Tomic def. (2)Bhosale 7-5 3-6 6-4 *Bhosale has a WTA ranking of 706

Great win for Sara, probably one of the best of her career so far.

Thailand G2 - SF

(3)Lizette Cabrera def. (1)Sutjiadi 7-5 4-6 7-5
(4)Buayam def. (15)Sara Tomic 7-6(6) 7-6(4)

Great win for Lizette over a top 50 junior. Very respectable scoreline for Sara as well, considering how Buayam has been breezing through her matches this week including a 2 & 1 win over Tjandramulia in the previous round.

I notice that one 'Miel Balestrat' is playing quallies in Bendigo. Anyone know anything about her? Is she the daughter of Dianne?
A few daughters of ex-players out there nowadays - Peers, Harris and now Balestrat. I didn't know that James Duckworth's grand mother is former Australian Championships winner Beryl Penrose too. :)

(13)Georgina Ruhrig(AUS) def. Yukun Zhang(CHN) 3-6 7-6(3) 6-3

Dissapointing loss for Bains, wouldn't mind betting she lost a big lead in the second set. Great win for Hon over the girl who took out the G2 in Thailand a fortnight ago. Hives seems to be progressing really well and one more win this week could see her closing in on DE for next years junior AO. Good to see Ruhrig racking up the wins as well.

Rest of todays R1 results:

Xu def. Long(AUS) 6-4 6-2
Okamura def. Cabrera(AUS) 6-4 5-7 6-3 *Not a great result for Lizette.
Stojic(AUS) def. Sutjiadi 7-5 6-3 *Nice win over a top 50 player for Stojic.

9 players into R2 is a very good result, especially with a not one all Aussie matchup occuring.

Sara Tomic AUS [W] d Ching-Wen Hsu TPE [3] 6-2 6-3
Ipek Solyu TUR d Pamela Boyanov AUS [Q] 6-1 6-0

Amazing win for Sara against a "top ten" player. She's really in form right now. Next match against Rischbieth/Lekaj is winnable too.
