Alexandra is a former Top 10 junior who's been left in the dust as her contemporaries, Victoria, Caroline, Aga and Agnes have made their names on the WTA tour.
Now, Alexandra seems to want to make her own noise. She just lost out on winning her 2nd (and by far biggest) title at the 75K hardcourt in Monzon. She is now within the Top 250 and warrants her own cheering thread!
Interesting stuff: I saw Vandeweghe only 2 times play till now, but, after a closeR look at some photos, she resembles with Alexandra pretty much IMO .
Maybe a slight similarity in the shape of the face (and eyebrows :lol. I guess I can see it in a few pictures, but once Coco's mannerisms come into play, all similarities are out the window.
Excellent question. They have a youtube channel, but since it is in France, I'm not getting my hopes up. They seem to struggle with the budget stream cameras .
She's back to playing well after getting angry. I assume she was furious after that tiebreak. GL in the second round now
eta: Kanepi doesn't quite have full-on Ana Bogdan Gaia-syndrome and survies Sanesi's BP's in the second set to advance in three sets. Please play well tomorrow, Alex. She might be the first seed here, but it's on clay and you can do this!!
Kanepi seems physically hampered at the moment, so I don't see a reason for anyone to go down like that against her, but it's really difficult to say anything about Alexandra's matches recently.
