Re: Vera Zvonareva - Interview Thread

From Vera's first round match in Pattaya on WTA website:

http://www.wtatennis.com/news/articl...win-since-2012

Zvonareva Notches First Win Since 2012 Vera Zvonareva, who returned to action earlier this month after being sidelined with a shoulder injury, beat a Thai wildcard to advance to the second round of the PTT Pattaya Open.
PATTAYA CITY, Thailand - Former World No.2 and two-time Grand Slam runner-up Vera Zvonareva recorded her first win in a year and a half on an undefeated day for Russians in the first round of the PTT Pattaya Open on Tuesday.
Zvonareva did not play after the Olympics in 2012 and not at all in 2013 as she dealt with illness and a right shoulder injury that required surgery. She returned to the court at the start of this season with first round losses at Shenzhen and the Australian Open and came into this week at No.992 in the world. It would seem fitting that Zvonareva would get back on the winning track in Pattaya City, where she was triumphant in 2009 and 2010. And she did just that in beating Thai wildcard Peangtarn Plipuech, 63 62, to improve to 18-4 here.

Re: Vera Zvonareva - Interview Thread

On WTA website, after her match against Makarova:

"I had too many unforced errors and was not aggressive enough," Zvonareva said. "But overall it went better than the Australian Open. I feel like I'm improving a little bit every day. I wish I could make bigger strides, but I have to keep working hard to be able to play the tennis that I want to play.

"After you haven't competed for a year and a half and have surgery, it's a difficult challenge to come back. Shoulder surgery for a tennis player is quite a dangerous thing. There are a lot of players who weren't able to come back and ever play tennis again, so for me it was a challenge to see what it takes to come back. I have energy and a desire to work, and tennis had given me so much in my life, so I just wanted to give it a try."

We support you, on your way back to the top form !

Re: Vera Zvonareva - Interview Thread

Vera Zvonarea, after Indian Wells R1 against Shuai Peng:

“It was a tough match,” said Zvonareva. "I took a little risk in the last game because I had to and unfortunately it didn't work out for me. I made a couple of mistakes and I think that helped her to break me in the last game. I think my game is better than it was in Australia, so I can't complain too much."

"I have to keep working," said Zvonareva, who also is playing doubles in the tournament. "Any matches that I can get is great for me, either in singles or doubles or whatever. Playing out there against the top players in the world is how you're going to get your game back. You can practice as much as you want, but playing is different. I just need to get matches."

Thanks for posting this Salar

I like her approach to play the best to get game back. Yes, she will tumble a few times, but she will benefit later from it, I think. Just hoping she stays all right physical
