180,000 people who have never registered to vote before have registered for the referndum. I wonder what they'll be voting for

What is this "registered voter" stuff. I really don´t have a clue. In here we get voting ticket via mail. We can vote with ID only! One person. One vote.

Re: Scotland to vote of Independence on 18th of September 2014

I think it's complicated as not only people resident in Scotland can vote, but also Scots living out of it, so they need to register...am I wrong?

Foreign based Scots can't vote I don't think, so Murray can't cause he lives in England.

I feel Yes could be peaking too soon, it's only like QF as there is a still a bit to go and they need to stay strong and take the title in the final

I am not too sure, I thought one of my tutors said that he could vote as his dad is Scottish, though he lives in England and has Irish passport

but he used to say a lot of BS anyway

Those living abroad I understand. How they identify you at the polling station? Passport? Drivers lience? Some sort of identification?

You have to do something to get licence to vote? I really am clueless here. Sorry if this sounds strange.

Basically, if you want to vote here in elections, you need to be on the "electoral roll", which is just a register of your name and your address. Every polling station then has a copy of the voting register for their constituency so they can identify you when you go there to vote.

Here we are sent a voting card around the time of an election and we bring it to the polling station, with ID but they rarely ask for the extra ID. And like the UK you have to put yourself on an electoral roll, you aren't automatically on it at 18.

We're sent the polling card too but mine's never been checked, they just ask for name and address.

That sounds a lot more efficient. Voter fraud is very easy here, particularly by postal vote.
