Antonio did a good job getting Vika to where she is but the split wasn't really that surprising. There were first rumours of them parting company after the USO and you could tell by Vika's body language when he spoke to her on court that she wasn't enjoying listening to his advice with the way she used to always lean away and give him no eye contact. I agree with what a poster said in the GM thread about Antonio, that tactically he wasn't great with the way he kept telling Vika to just roll her first serve in to keep the percentage high when she was serving for the match - and she lost in at least 3 matches when i heard him say that I definitely think with the right coach a lot more could be gotten out of Vika if her serve and fitness in particular are worked on.
What people have said about how nobody would want to work with her because of her temper is rubbish though, if you don't want to work with someone because they can be temperamental regardless of their talent/potential then you shouldn't be a pro coach i doubt Vika's temper is even much of a factor on the practice court anyway.

I agree, too. Her weakness has really been the serve in many matches, yet they never seemed to focus on that problem. Of course, I don't know what they were doing in practice but when Antonio comes on the court in the match and tells her just to push the serves when she's serving for it I find it strange...
And I also agree with you on the last part. Even Marat found coaches
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
Yeah, there are alot of juicy pictures of him coaching her in a match and she is just staring off. I remember a video during RG of Vika and her training. Antonio was speaking so highly of her how she was so talented. Maybe all the disappointment at the end of the year catalyzed the split:shrug: The serve tactic didn't really work and it affected the rest of her game. Hopefully she could get a coach that focuses on it
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
You're probably right, all those tight 3 set losses + Vika's temper could = bad consequences we probably won't hear the real reason for the split though because Antonio doesn't seem like the sort of person to come out publicly to blame anyone. If anything is said from either side it'l likely just be the usual politically correct comments you normally get in these sort of situations
The serving problems she had may be linked to her fitness because in the matches i saw towards the end of the season she seemed to serve well for like a set by putting power behind it, but then just started pushing it in and generally being too passive in her game too.
Antonio probably objected to her tummy too like Mark Wellington and Vika being the fan pleaser that she is wouldn't stand for it and decided he had to go
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
Yeah i don't mind them keeping the reasons to themselves either, the haters don't need any more fuel to bash Vika with
Isn't Craig Kardon working with Ana or did she get rid of him?
Yeah Nina you're right about Marat  Vera was as bad, if not worse than Vika temperament-wise before this year too and it hasn't stopped her from having a good coach and likewise with Dinara too.
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
Why does it keep crossing my mind that it was Antonio's decision? His tweet saying plans for the future almost sounds like he was looking forward to gettin' rid of Vika.
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
Yeah you're right too Sam, I gues we'll never know for sure unless one of them tells the story themself.
In the mean time, anyone having problems to go on Twitter too? my page won't even go there

Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
It was probably an agreement between the two of them to no longer work together rather than 1 of them walking away. If Antonio was going to leave i think he would have done it at the end of last season, not a couple of weeks into Vika's pre season preparations
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
I wonder what she gave him to walk away, that kind of job comes once in a million years . It is strange to do it right now, maybe he had some crazy new strategies and Vika couldn't take it anymore
Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • - Vikalume 2.
It could have been anything they disagreed about but they were only doing light tennis training at this stage i think and it was more physical work than anything  maybe Vika didn't agree on the areas he wanted to focus on like you say though and decided fresh ideas were the best option or she wanted more input herself on what was going to be worked on.
