I know what you mean, know what you're saying. However, historically, Petra has always been a clutch, big game player, even when younger (though more inconsistent obviously).

I think her finals record is 9-2, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe 10-2? And up until last year, her semi-final record, was almost as good. So she did perform in big tournaments or opponents.

Nonetheless, I know what you mean, when you say she doesn't "win ugly". She does and she can (especially in 2011 and the first 3/4 of 2012). However, I will agree, both Maria and Serena, would win a higher propensity of their "ugly" matches in general.

Right now, Petra's not winning any thing (big or small), so it's hard to judge. Except for today, she's not 'winning ugly", mind you anything else. Of course, this could be her obligatory "transitional period" after her first major success, high ranking and Grand Slam achievement. On the other hand, maybe she feels the high expectations, diligence and demands of being a top player, and satisfying said critics and fans, are too much? I don't think it's always, mostly about the pressure. At the moment, it appears to be a life style choice. I hope it changes.

So we'll see what happens?

that's it......the best way to deal with false theories is to face them yourselves and bust the myth......let's have a couple of high intensity matches between the two on big stages like at IW and miami......

I just think Kvitova is mentally weak at this point in her career and it has nothing to do with Maria. Look at the losses she's having now. They're coming against players she should defeat in two easy sets. I truly believe if Petra is somehow able to pull herself out of this slump she'll be able to compete with the big 3. I just think the Wimbledon win was to much pressure for her and she wasn't truly ready to deal with the competition.
