Oh my GOD. If NaNa wins this AO, she will have not faced a single top twenty opponent :tape:.

Assuming Li makes the final it will probably be another rollercoaster scrappy match like last year
^Haha she was the first semifinal so she's safely through. IF (big if) Pome can play this way it could be a really good match, but I can't see NaNa losing, as she's been close twice before against much stronger opponents.

Kinda like the final. I'm rooting for Li and if she wins it it's really deserved imo. But if Domi wins then I'll just be LMAO at the randomness of the women's tournament and accept the fact that we will probably have a lot of similar random results in the future.

I also find it kind of strange after everyone BASHED Wimby for all the upsets then suddenly this time the same are people are saying it's "exciting" and "refreshing" to see "new faces." Maybe it's because of NaNa's popularity IDRK. I guess all credit to the players who actually made it through and further proof that TF makes no sense.

I remember Kvitova fans arguing how great of a tournament Wimbledon was. Until she lost anyway.

I agree with what you say. I'm pretty sure it has got to do with the fact that Na is WAY more popular here than Bartoli plus she has WAY louder trolls who whine when she loses and gloat when she wins.

I enjoyed last year's Wimbledon, and of course Marion's win. I just get so much life from Radwanska finding herself in a position where she could actually have a chance of winning a slam, but then gets crushed by another in form offensive player. Much of her fanbase like to talk up her chances so it makes it sweet.

Last year's wimbledon had 3 sensational matches in the mid-late rounds in the top half. Serena-Lisicki, Radwanska-Li and Radwanska-Lisicki (although the last was lower quality than the other two).

Here there were some good matches in the early-mid rounds but the late rounds have flopped. Maybe some people found Vika's match exciting...

Vikas match was a errorathon off Vikas raquet she was not even just missing she was missing by a wide margin
Her usual fire was not dere during the match instead her assface was on display:rolleyes: It might be the pressure of the situation. She looked like she didnt wanna be dere. But when she wanted to save face she did it easily by winning that second set. God I miss that Vika whose ROS shook everyone on the tour even Serena....whose back hand angles were amazing(watch that 2012 semis against Clijsters). May be she is lulled with her two AOs & two USO finals...may be Redfoo's pampering her too much....who knows. She is the best bet to lead this tour after Serena, all others are not that good except the old Petra one who had her mojo!!

I want Tomas to win. Fight!

Now what I think is the pressure. The pressure as the favorite, the pressure of history if she could defend it. She played conservatively she was asked to pay.

She can deal with Serena's serve and not aga's. Clearly not thinking straight.

Tomas got only one break opputunity and he couldnt convert it. Stan was really awesome today. I want him to win it all:cheer::cheer:

If Na can't win this final, she'll never win the AO, which would be a hell of a blemish on her career since it's by far her best slam. Pomenika proved, however, that Aga didn't do anything special against Vika. Of course, unlike Vika, Pomenika's shots were landing in. Sure she played a few trick shots but she only did that once she had Vika down double breaks and was full of confidence; showing off. Vika delivered a bushel of fuckery and Aga said thank you. If Aga can crumble to a nervous opponent like Pomenika and can't put any sort of scoreboard pressure on her than she isn't going to win a slam.

I think the reason people got so freaked out about the Wimbledon upsets last summer was because A. the grass was clearly tampered with, B. a lot of players went out in a short span of the first few days, and C. it's Wimbledon. It's not supposed to happen at Wimbledon.

If the final is festive enough, I might return to spread my bitterness to GM.

Wait what about the grass being tampered with? I was without internet for most of Wimbledon too so everything I know about it is just after but I never heard that .

WOW for Stan!!! Even though Nadull wasn't playing that well all tournament I didn't think Stan had any shot. Nice to have someone different there too!!

The was a lot of discussion that since the Wimbledon grounds crew had to fix the grass for last summer's Olympics, that they changed the formula of the grass, hence causing it to be slicker than usual causing all the freak falls/injuries/crappy play by big players. I think a commentator on Tennis Channel actually said that it reminded them of the crappy grass they used to use at Roehampton for the qualies.

This tournament was crap. Not Wimbledon 13 crap but still crap. Yet the worst slam I can think of in my duration of being a tennis fan (US Open 03) is probably either Australia 06 (simply because we never got full matches, I have a soft spot for Mauresmo and was delighted in her winning but I would have preferred her actually beating the crap out of Saint Kim and Justine) or US Open 07 which went like this:

Women's final Justine v. Sveta
Friend: "I hope Sveta can win"
Another Friend: "Win what? The coin toss?"
Me: Dead.

I don't think Sveta was even able to win the coin toss.

Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • off-topic/introduction thread- Vikalume 2.

What did everyone think about this AO? For me it was seriously the worst major I remember, and I've been following the tour since 2006.

I haven't seen the men's final, but it sounds crazy. They had one great match, of Novak and Stan, but the rest was generally unmemorable, at least for the ATP's current standards. The WTA truly had zero great matches! Most people think Lady Aga's third set was brilliance, so fine if they want to think that, and Fistpump's big upset was a decent match, but nothing else. The semis were extremely boring and the final was worse. I'd love to hear other opinions :).

Re: •~º~º~Welcome to Vikaland~º~º~ • off-topic/introduction thread- Vikalume 2.

It was a bit mediocre, but both sides had deserving winners. On the WTA side the SFs were pretty one sided, definitely not close to the drama/thrill of the 2012 SFs. Apart from Stan's wins, very little that stood out. I quite enjoyed the first set of the Na/Pome final, but predictably Pome couldn't keep up in the end. The Stan/Nadal final went from exciting to farcical and then settled at just average for me.

Out of all the AOs this decade so far, this is probably the most underwhelming.
