The end-of-year Aussie ITFs aren't far off now, starting in Alice Springs on Sep 5.
The entry list is out and although it'll change a bit before the tournament starts, some interesting things to note:
Jess Moore and Marija Mirkovic are early withdrawals. No sign of Sophie Letcher Monika Wejnert and Jade Hopper are still nowhere to be seen. And no Shannon Golds either
Aussie girls that are on the list include Sally Peers, Casey, Liv, Tammi P, Bojana, Izzy, Sophie F, Dani D, Monique plus lots of scrubs.
No Ashleigh Barty but my fave 2 NT players are on the list: Kassandra Dunser (who's been injured for a lot of this year) and Tarlina Tipungwuti, who's now in the top 100 in Australia after being unranked at the start of the year and is being coached by Alun Jones
Yeah Teiwa had a bad run of injuries that stopped her from playing and training for quite a few months so hopefully she can get back into things over the coming weeks...
slightly shocked that Mary-Ann Balint got a MD wildcard.. was talking to her and watching her train at my local club the other day, i thought that there would have someone else more deserving.

Just checked the stats on Sharma. Just turned 16 last month and this is only her second ever pro event (Esperance was the first). Good result for her! The nice draw helped, but that's impressive for a rookie.
Entered of the aussies: Issy, Liv, Sally, Mon, Boj, Tammi, Dani D, Karo & Barty in MD (Also Arina Rodi)
Quals: Bai, Hadzic, Sumner, Hubacek, Starr, Tredoux, Bengson, Woolcock, Scivetti, Gianotti, Calderwood, Billett, Keir, Ryan & Hewson plus some others
Already Withdrawn: Mirkovic
Still no sign of Letcher, Moore, Rajicic or Sophie Ferg and no Casey or Storm Sanders here
On one hand its probably good for Casey to ease up for a few weeks but it would have been good to keep this form going, in theory if she could have won kalgoorlie and the next four events thats 250 points and she could of ended the year ranked somewhere 115-120ish wishful thinking i know!! Hopefully Liv, Issy and Sally all fire up and win or make a few finals so they can jump up the ranks!!
Casey has played a lot of matches the past month, singles & doubles. Even though they have mostly been easy wins its a lot of tennis & the last thing we want is for her to over-do it and injure herself again. I'm pretty happy if she only plays another event or 2 this year. Its been a productive year, not much point ruining herself trying to get AO direct entry. It won't happen.
The next two challengers are in SA - Port Pirie & Mount Gambier.
Casey obviously missing, but Rogowska, Holland and Peers will be in action as well as Adamczak, Bobusic and Patterson.
Karo Wlodarczak has entered both also, and Dani D is back for Port Pirie only. Mirkovic has withdrawn, so must still be injured. Barty has withdrawn from Port Pirie but still entered for Mount G. Rajicic is down to play Mount G only.
Letcher, Moore & Ferguson not on any entry or withdrawal lists, so it's safe to assume they've called it a year.
I disagree. I reckon she's injured. Her doubles career was starting to bloom, and she still had potential in singles so I'm not convinced she'd give it away so young. If she did, then it's a shame.
Would be sad if Jess quit, she could have been a doubles specialist. Stuck around 100-300 in singles for a while so I don't understand why she would call it a career so early. TA's approach obviously isn't working, too many players giving up after things don't go exactly as planned and they lose financial support. Matty Ebden is a good example of where hard work will get you.
Good tournament for Mon , and good job to Casey once again.
Keen on seeing Issy, Olivia and Casey all go up the ranks together.
Hard to criticise wildcard choices because we don't know if the players that missed out actually applied for them or not, but that Cappanolo choice is just...yeah. wrong.
Hahaha, Capannolo is awful...oh well. They don't have much to choose from the qualies list and Stephanie should qualify anyway. Other choices are good. I'm done complaining about wildcard choices, it happens every time, some one crap gets in...nothing new.
