Don't suppose you remember the famous Moore-Kalinina-Zander streak from around the same time last year? What was that, injury? No. Great players? No. Exhaustion after a long season? Not after having a four-month injury break early in the year, just like in 2014.

It's called bad form. Even the best of players are sometimes faced with it. That is, if it's a form problem at all. See, I'm not as shocked by this, especially at indoor events, as she obviously struggles with that surface almost as much as Donna does with clay. The only real results she has on indoor courts come from some G4 junior events and we know what sort of fields those have.

Anyway, I'm sure she'll come around soon.

Re: Ana Konjuh - Volume 2

Everyone needs to calm down. As i've mentioned before, she's 16. These things will happen. What's important is she learns from it and gets better.

Re: Ana Konjuh - Volume 2

Some people have completely unreasonable expectations. After her surgery, we should be happy with what she did at Istanbul and Wimbledon.

Re: Ana Konjuh - Volume 2

Unless otherwise indicated, I suspect Ana has some lingering effects from her surgical procedure, affecting her serve and forehand, resulting in these unexpected losses, especially on the ITF circuit. If not that, then she's just going through growing pains as a 16 year old with normal ups and downs as any other player.

Re: Ana Konjuh - Volume 2

I think we should just hold tight for a while until either more tournaments or a press release. Speculating just makes it worse for us and her.

Re: Ana Konjuh - Volume 2

I still can't find a way to explain to myself why is she having such poor results on indoor courts, no real performance there this year or last year. With her game one would think she'd thrive on indoor surfaces, but that doesn't seem to be the case (to put it oh so very mildly).

I would say her game style doesn't match it (which is true) but she performed so well at Wimbledon so I can't really explain it... But I definitely think that aside from her Serve she will never thrive on super fast surfaces... Wimbledon is slower than Indoor Hard so maybe that explains it...

Re: Ana Konjuh - Volume 2

But most hardcourts on Tour are not that much slower than most indoors and she can do well on those...?

she played two tournaments last year, in one as long as I know she had pain in her ellbow(Kalinina) and in the other she had four wins until she lost to Tara Moore who is a decent Player on fast surfaces. Konjuh has not played much indoor, there is for sure a lack of experience on These surface, but it is far too early to talk about bad Performances on that surface en general... Right now she can not win a match on any surface...not even a mediocre japanese Player on her favourite surface hard court...so this Golubic lost is for sure not due to the surface... so at the end we have only that loss to Tara moore to judge her Performances on that surface...and on the same tournament she won against VAN UYTVANCK! that is a very good Player IMO.
