She destroyed the World #1 Eva Birnerova 6-2 6-1 in the Grade 2 event in Luxembourg and is into QF dropping only 6 games.
Hopefully she will get to play Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semis.
15 yr old Vera..... power/strength /height and great groundies with a pretty good serve.
<br /> Vera will make some waves next year.

Wimbly qualies:
(5)Alexandra Dulgheru v Nastassja Burnett
Vera Dushevina v Melanie Oudin
Mayo Hibi v Allie Kiick
Renata Voracova v (23)Aleksandra Wozniak
Vera has a second round position to defend, and she immediately faces Oudin who, no matter her level, has been kicking Russian ass since 2009.
Vera is no exception (0-1 against her, but this is their first meeting on grass).

Vera lost, 76(3) 26 8-10.
She was up 5-1 in the third. Devastating.
Someone in GM who saw the match live said she had to be consoled by her coach afterward

Yes, I saw the live scoring, didn't know what to write on it yet. So disappointing to lose being 5-1 up
. But somehow this marks for me the end of her singles career. Apart from the Slams she has not played singles since beginning of April. Soon her QF from Stanford will fall off, so she will drop on rankings considerably, so harder to perform on WTA level. I have a feeling she will stick to doubles more now.

Vera hasn't played doubles or singles since Wimbledon. Anyone know what her status is?

Bepa is playing French Open qualies with a SR:
Her draw:
(8)Kristyna Pliskova v Gabriela Dabrowski
Vera Dushevina v Jelena Ostapenko
Akgul Amanmuradova v Dinah Pfizenmaier
Fangzhou Liu v (22)Anna Tatishvili
A little trivia: this is a battle of Wimbledon junior champions. Jelena is the current champion, Vera won in 2002. Jelena is surging quickly up the rankings and can play on clay. Not really the opponent Bepa wants to meet; I just hope bagels stay at bay.

Vera beat Ostapenko. It would be great for her to get in that main draw

Shocking win
Score 46 63 63 :yeah:
If she can beat Jelena, she should have no problems with Dabrowski!
