yeah. maybe she could have convinced some american or maybe stosur cause lisicki is playing with goerges. they would have gotten wildcard over jankovic/daniilidou. Stosur/Kanepi would be an epic team
Kaia should have played dubs with caro. In the Kaia pictures thread, she is training with caro and they would have definately got a wildcard. They also seem to be quite friendly together
Kaia is good friends with Sofia Arvidsson. She gets along with Caro, Vika and Kim. She says Sabine is very friendly as well.
Kaia said that training with Caro was the best feeling she had. She has hitting with Cetkovska yesterday and said that she was not worse than petra
Honeslty, she hasn't played much...
Thanks vik, thats great to hear. If she puts in 2 good performances, the top 20 is very much in reach. Can you ask kaia what tournaments she will play after wimbledon and whether she and jurgen are legitimately trying to make the mixed dubs at olympics?
Thanks
Wow. Did not expect such a beatdown. With that kind of game she has nothing to do in Miami either. It's a dead circle - she needs more games to get it going again, but losing in first round does not help that in any way. Maybe she will now switch another smaller tournament into her schedule between Copenhagen and Stuttgart?
19 bps, this is probably the most Scheepers could have ever had in a 63 62 match, so the question is really becoming why is that? just an unlucky day or she's still struggling with her shoulder?
but from the positive side, Kaia could easily lose in a 2/8 or 4/10 bp fashion instead of 13/19, i can see she is still fighting as much as she can, but her serve and groundstroke is just out of control today
The challengers are stuffed up this year. There are no big ones in europe
Still, very disappointing from Kaia. I know that she hasnt played in a while but only 5 games after she felt good in her hit with woz, thats sad. Although I could see the match being closer than the scoreline suggests
Nothing personal guys but have you ever followed Kaia over the years. Really? There are so many similar patterns.
She never does good at IW-s and ofcource there is a reason this year bigger than previous times.
1. She really didn't play more than 20 hours of tennis after injury.
2. She doesn't like the wind and desert climate there. It doesn't suit her system.
3. She doesn't find her rhytm after little training and first match is always difficult.
She will be fine by Miami as I said long time ago already. Keep the fingers crossed.
I haven't talked to her after her match but seems she is unhappy as seems she fought a lot but something happened there as she was 100% on her 1st serve in the 2nd set (till 1-4 I guess) but won only 4 points of 12)

well, i'm not sure how long is "over the years", but Kvitova never played good in IW, Li Na never played good in IW, they both won yesterday (here never played good = not winning a single match), and Kvitova is inactive due to injury for over one month, Li Na is almost the same
Ok then. Hopefully she bounces back well. i think we had quite high expectations. If she had won, she would have comfortably made the 4th round with one leg marion
Anyway, I hope she does well at Miami
What an amazing start of season for Kaia - and now a big mess
Just a few days from her 28th birthday, Scheepers continued to show she is only getting better as her career goes on, scoring a 63 62 win over No.29 seed Kaia Kanepi. Kanepi was playing her first match since the Australian season, having missed all of February with a right shoulder injury - but she is always a threat, evidenced by her triumph at the Premier event in Brisbane this year.
"Kaia started the year out very well but has been out for a while. I didn't know what to expect, exactly," Scheepers said afterwards. "It's hard for every player to play their first match back after a while or after an injury, but in the end you just try to focus on yourself, and try to do what you do best on the court.
"I thought I played really well today. My base game was very solid and I didn't give her any free points. I really tried to make her work for every point."
