She's on the entry list for Albuquerque. She is right at the bottom of the qualifying list, so most likely will have to go through qualifying but thanks to her ranking jump after the US open, she should be a high seed I would think.
That's Peeblesshire (not a proper county any longer), and as you can see is quite clearly a different Laura Robson: http://www.discovertheborders.co.uk/ridings-tartan.html. (I've no reason to think she's an heiress, either.)
I wonder what happened to Laura Robson the Lass. She fell out of my Google alerts feed half a decade go.
She beat Kovinic at the US open..that is a good win, even though Kovinic has been in poor form since the grass season.
Best of luck Laura... BTW Laura's W/L ratio was 8-20 before Landisville.. it is now 17-21.. Would be brilliant if she could end the year with a positive W/L ratio...
Really should have been 6-0 6-1. Once Laura worked Gonzalez out, she went on a roll and was 5-7 6-0 5-1 up. Got a little tight and let it go to 5-4. She's showing great mental fortitude though, she's actually thinking when things aren't working out. At the beginning of the season, that wasn't the case.
Landisville did wonders for her. She's completely transformed. Good luck in the QF.
Well done Laura. This shows that it really was, recently anyway, just a mental block. Let's hope that's totally out of the way now and Laura can work her way back into the top 100.
Next opponent is Mel Oudin. Laura leads the h2h 2-0.. However, this is Mel's home tournament, she will probably have a lot of support and be fighting really hard, so I think it will be another tough match. Whoever wins this one, I will be rooting for them to win the title.
After all that Mel's been through I would normally be rooting for her. This is a very winnable match for Laura and a great opportunity for her. Like Mr S, I hope that whoever wins takes the title.
The match up favours Laura in that they both have strong forehands, but Laura's backhand is better than Oudin's. I believe Mel did beat Laura once in the juniors but hasn't been able to win a set ever since Laura beat her in Jnr Wimbledon.
Laura v Oudin brings back memories. The first time I really became aware of her was when she knocked Oudin, then #1 seed, out of junior Wimbledon en route to the title 8 years ago.
Whenever Laura tweets she's watching a TV show, she always gets replies from people asking if she's still playing tennis or she needs to be training. Casual tennis fans are so ignorant sometimes.

I know! Some people seem to think that Wimbledon or the Grand Slams are the only tennis events of the year...
I also hate when people think you should be able to just stroll up and win an event like Wimbledon... Even at challenger level the competition is fierce, they have no idea....
This is true... But it's annoying when people critcise Laura when a) they don't fully understand how tough the tour is and b) they don't realise how hard Laura has had to work to make it just this far in her comeback.
