I've been following her results for more than a year now and saw her playing via the internet a few times.
I also watched today's match on Eurosport2 and I have to admit that she developed so much since I last saw her. I hadn't expected such a tremendous hitting from her. She hits extremely flat with davenport-like rhythm and has this odd forehand-grip. But it's soo effective. I mean Dementieva was screaming at times because the ball was really flying with such a great speed.
She also has a great attitude on court. She is very calm and doesn't get upset.
My prediction: By the end of the next year she will be Top20 if not higher
Good call from davidmario, but there were a lot of us predicting this way before this thread was made.
I still have to give davidmario credit for having the guts to post this in GM where, as we saw in the first few pages of this thread, ignorant and intolerant posters shot him down.
yeah her previous results in challengers impressed me also in 2007. I know she once trashed anne schäfer in a itf final very badly and that really surprised me.
let's hope she has a good day against kanepi.
Petra's game is naturally more consistent than Lucie's IMO. Petra's serve will be great I think, better than Lucie's, it's already very good and I think she'll learn to use her height even better than she does now on it. So that is automatically going to help her tough out matches when her groundstrokes aren't there. Also, her swings aren't such huge cuts in comparison to Lucie. She's not going to have the fits that Safarova has in timing her shots.
Made it through Zurich Qualies crushing Johansson and beating Pironkova for the second time this year. Today best win against ALG 6-3 7-5
GL in MD, Petra
*bump*
into first final on the WTA tour.
special one: plays benesova who shares the same coach as she does. Benesova said she won't call the coach on court.
congrats, petra
I remember her winning a 10k title in germany beating anne schäfer 6-0 6-1 in the final, that was more than two years ago I think
you go petra. tough draw for AO

Hmmm, do you think with a eventual US Open Semfinal she could do it?
BTW, she said that her favourite surface was paris indoors and that was the tournament when I saw her play Dementieva and created this thread here. I was just confused that she sucks on grass. I thought this was a good surface for her as well.
