In the USTA Pro Circuit's US Open Wild Card Challenge, the American man and American woman who earn the most ATP World Tour and WTA ranking points at various USTA Pro Circuit hard-court events will receive wild cards to compete in the US Open main draw. The US Open Wild Card Challenge consists of the following events:
USTA Pro Circuit Women’s Events:
$50,000 Stockton, Calif. (week of July 13)
$50,000 Sacramento, Calif. (week of July 20)
$50,000 Lexington, Ky. (week of July 27)
Marand is the current leader having reached semis in Stockton but she's withdrawn from Lexington.
It's a shame there couldn't be a WC given out to the best Japanese player in this series. There seems to be a lot more competition in that front than there is between the Americans.
Alicia has been injured, retired from last 2 tournaments, so hopefully she gets healthy. I saw her hitting a few months back she was playing well, she can do better than 400 WTA. I remember when I was 16 and she was 8 and we played and she kicked my ass like 6-1 6-0
Looks like it will come down to Ahn, Brady, Loeb, Lao, and Muhammad. If Austin got 29 pts last week for wins up to SF, an R3 win by any of these girls should eliminate Austin and Marand.
^ thanks, they don't have the MD on the main website yet. She faces a decent R1 opponent in Foretz, who was a finalist in Quebec last week. And Hibino gets up to #2 seed! Hope she gets her energy back, it was looking low in Sacremento.
