Re: Stanford Rnd 2: How many Aces will Serena hit against World No 403 Gibbs?
Why is Serena even playing this week? Makes more sense to stay in Europe and get ready for the Olympics.

From BankoftheWestCl twitter: "I really wanted to come here more than anything. This is where I felt like it began"
What she means is this was her first title after the hell she went through. Dominating Sharapova/Lisicki/Bartoli (but not so much Kirilenko ) was just huge for her.

In general yes, but Stanford is probably the quickest outdoor hardcourt left on the WTA and is almost as quick as grass.
I say Serena wins 1/2 matches here before pulling out. I mean can anyone actually even picture her playing the final at this tournament?

Her aces are not just based on the speed of the court. She gets aces by varying her serve and keeping the opponent guessing.
On surfaces like grass, the bounce is lower and the returner doesnt get as good a footing as HC and is much harder to change direction and push off giving her a lot more aces, especially on the slice serves.

If you say so
I don't see any reason why she wouldn't see this one through. It's not like she'll have to beat anyone particularly good to defend her title.
