GOLD COAST, Australia - Local star Samantha Stosur maintained her
unbeaten run against Croatian Karolina Sprem Monday, ousting the No.4 seed in the first round of the $170,000 Uncle Tobys Hardcourts.
Gold Coast native Stosur, 20 reached the semifinals here last year,defeating
Sprem in the second round. Following another win later in the year at Indian Wells, Stosur improved to 3-0 against the Top 20 player with a 64 62 win on Day 2.
"Playing her I don't get fazed by all her power," said Stosur. "I
know exactly what I want to do against her and I did it again today and got my most convincing win over her."
