Pernilla broke into Top 400 for the 1st time this month.
Last week, she was at a CHR of 389
, but is down 17 spots in the rankings this week and out of Top 400 again, at #406.
Whatever, she'll get back there soon enough.
She's been doing good in the last few days!
-> She qualified for 50K+H Sobota
in Poland this week.
Beat (3)Daniela Seguel 4 & 3 in Q1
, Justine Ozga 6-3 7-6(3) in Q2, and Olga Doroshina 1 & 0 in Q3.
And now, she beat Marcinkevica in R1, 6-4 3-6 6-4.
When she broke Diana's serve right at the start of the 2nd set to take the 6-4 *1-0 lead, I thought she was in good control of the match. But she was broken right back, and since that moment, there's been a shitload of breaks of serve, none of both managing to confirm the lead for more than a couple games when being a break up. After she lost the 2nd set, I was afraid Pernilla'd lost her chances in the match, but she managed to hold serve at the most important moment of the match, at 4-4 in the 3rd. That's what matters in the end.
R2 vs. Vogt, who beat the top seed Hlavackova (who is in a TERRIBLE slump
) in 3 sets in R1, saving 4 MPs in the process.
It will be tough for sure, but Pernilla must feel really confident at the moment so who knows, hopefully she'll play a competitive match.
